About PCRA Competitions for School Children

PCRA Painting and Essay Writing Competition 2017 for School Children is organised by Petroleum Conservation Research Association in collaboration with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and supported by CBSE. The winner gets a fully paid trip to Singapore. Children studying in recognised schools within India, affiliated to all Boards, Central or state are invited for a National Level Painting and Essay Writing Competition The Online Application for Essay writing and Painting competition has started from 15 July 2017 and the last date to apply is extended to 15 October 2017.   • PCRA Quiz Competition
    • PCRA has also organised Quiz Competition this year. A minimum of 30 students must be registered for a school to become eligible to form a team. National Level Round will be held in Delhi. The Questions shall pertain to Agriculture, Conservation, Petroleum, Environment, Transport, General Studies and other categories.

  • Essay Competition

Candidates studying from Class 8 to 10 are eligible to participate.

  • Painting Competition
    • Junior: Class 5-7
    • Senior: Class 8-10
  • Candidates can participate via their Schools only. No individual participation is allowed.
  • Schools can participate in both Essay and Painting Competitions
  • Quiz competition
    • Students of class 8-10 are eligible
    • All Indian Schools recognised by Central & State Boards of India can participate.

The awards will be distributed in the Inaugural Function of Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight 2017 during the 16 January to 15 February 2018. The distribution of awards is given below.

Candidates can participate via their Schools ONLY.

Guidelines for Painting Competition

  • Candidates have to use A3 Size drawing sheet only to make their painting
  • Theme of Painting Competition: " Small Steps of Fuel Conservation can make a big change" 

  • On the Top of the drawing sheet, make sure to mention: PETROLEUM CONSERVATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATION PCRA PAINTING COMPETITION 2017
  • Candidates can use Pencils, pencil Colours, Crayons, water colour etc. to make their painting look elegant.
  • However, a minimum of 30 students must participate in each category in which the school submits its entry.
  • Duration 2 hours | Sheet Size: A3
  • The students should take care of the following points 
    • The painting should depict the relevance of the theme
    • Use of proper colour combination and the given space should have been handled nicely.
    • Execution of concept/theme

Guidelines for Essay Writing Competition 

  • Theme of the Essay Writing Competition: "Small Steps of Fuel Conservation can make a big Change"
  • Languages that can be used for writing the Essay: Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Maithili, Dogri, Nepali, Bodo and Santhali. However, a minimum of 15 students must participate in each language in which the school submits its entry
  • ONE student can participate in ONE of the 23 languages
  • Word Limit: 700 Words in own words. Plagiarism will lead to cancellation of the entry.
  • The essay has to be submitted by the student in their own language.
  • Time Limit: 1 hour

Guidelines for Quiz Competition

  • PCRA Quiz Competition will be conducted online through web portal that is www.pcracompetitions.org
  • A minimum of 30 students must be registered by the school, for becoming eligible to form a school team.
  • The school shall register the names of all students against the school ID on the online web portal mentioned above.
  • It is mandatory for the students to complete the quiz competition during the school hours and each student will be given a time limit of 10 minutes to attempt 10 questions.
  • Questions shall pertain to Agriculture, Conservation, Petroleum, Environment, Transport, General Studies and other categories.

Submission of the Paintings and Essays by the School

  • Register School: Schools have to submit the entries through online mode. For submitting the entries online the schools have to first register online. 
  • The entry should reach immediately after the declaration of result in school and latest by 15 September 2017.
  • Principals of the school are also required to certify the number of students who participated in the Competition.
  • Painting: School is required to evaluate the entries for each category, and upload best two entries in each category (Junior/Senior), in which the competition has been conducted at the school.

PCRA Competitions for School Children Selection Process

Essay and Painting Competition Selection Process

The shortlisted paintings/essays sent by the school will then be examined by the Jury appointed by Petroleum Conservation Research Association.

  • Final Round of Painting in Delhi: The students whose paintings are adjudged in the best 50 paintings in each category, on All India basis, will be invited to participate in a National Final round at Delhi. The expenses for these participants will be borne by PCRA.
  • For Essay: In order of Merit the jury will select the three best essay in each of the above stated 23 languages
  • The Final results will be announced from 16 January to 15 February 2018.

Quiz Competition Selection Process

Quiz Competition selection will be made on the basis of the following 5 rounds:

Rounds Levels Details
First School  Minimum of 30 students needs to participate in the first round and best two students from each school will be selected for the next level
Second District The District level students are eligible for state level competition
Third State The students who clears the state or third round will be qualified for offline zonal quiz competition 
Fourth  Zonal The winners of Zonal round shall be invited to participate in the National Level Competition
Fifth National National winners shall be felicitated at the inaugural function of Oil & Gas Conservation 2017 in January 2017. 

 

The First three levels are Online Quiz Rounds and Round 4 & 5 are " Live" Competitions.
