About NBHM Scholarship

National Board of Higher Mathematics invites applications from students who wish to pursue studies leading to a masters degree in mathematics.

  • Interested candidates NBHM Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies in Mathematics need to send an offline application in the given proforma in order to apply for the NBHM scholarship.The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the written examination which will be conducted by NBHM on September 17, 2016.
  • The candidates selected for NBHM Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies in Mathematics will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.6000.

NBHM Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Gender Any
Region All India 
Class/ Age  B.A/B.Sc./M.A./M.Sc. (Mathematics)
  • Nationality: The scholarship is available for Indian nationals only.
  • Academic Qualification: The applicant must have BA. /B.Sc. or B.A. (Hons.)/B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Mathematics or should be in the final year of any of the above-mentioned programs.
    • The Student who have completed their first year or will complete first year of their M.Sc. program in Mathematics.
    • Students who are either in the third or fourth year of an integrated M.Sc. program in Mathematics.
  • Academic Status: The Student must be enrolled in M.A. / M.Sc. program in Mathematics in any recognized institution in India.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: The students must have scored at least 60% marks in case of B.A./B.Sc. program and in case the student have B.A. (Hons.)/B.Sc. (Hons.) the minimum percentage is 50%.

NBHM Scholarship Reward

The students short-listed for the scholarship will be entitled to the following benefits:

  • Duration of the scholarship: The scholarship will be offered for a period of 1 year and can be extended to a period of maximum 2 years on the basis of the performance of the candidate.
    • For candidates who received the scholarship in the final year of M.Sc. program, they will get the scholarship only for 1 year.
  • The amount of Scholarship: The NBHM Scholarship fellows will be awarded a monthly stipend of Rs.6,000.

NBHM Scholarship Application form and Process

The application process for the NBHM Scholarship is completely offline and the candidate can submit their NBHM Scholarship application form on a plain paper using the given proforma. The details of the application process are as follow: 

  • Proforma of Application Form: The application can be submitted in the below-given proforma on a simple paper. Click here to download proforma.
  • Attachments: The application must be accompanied by a recent passport size photograph of the candidate, a self-addressed envelope.

Each candidate should clearly indicate two centres from the zone in which (s)he wishes to appear for the test, in order of preference.

The candidate should mention “NBHM M.A./M.Sc. Scholarships” on the envelope and the application along with other documents mentioned above should be sent to the Zonal Coordinator of the Zone at the below-mentioned addresses:

NBHM Scholarship Test Admit Card

The admit card for the scholarship exam will be sent by post for all the candidates. The candidates have to carry a photo ID proof to the exam centre on the day of the exam.  

Roll Numbers of the candidates who will be appearing for the NBHM Scholarship exam from Delhi and Chandigarh centre has been released and in case these candidates do not receive their admit card by post then they can go on their respective test centre along with a valid id proof and will be allowed to appear in the exam. 

NBHM Scholarship Selection Process

The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of a written examination followed by a personal interview. The details of the examination are as follow:

  • Type of Examination: The examination will have questions requiring short answers, primarily in the areas of analysis and algebra, but also in other areas of Mathematics covered in undergraduate mathematics programs.
  • Duration of the examination: The candidates will have Two & Half hours to attempt the examination.
  • Date of Examination: The written examination will be conducted on September 17, 2016.

NBHM Scholarship Exam Pattern

There will be three sections in the NBHM Scholarship exam and each section will consist of 10 marks making the NBHM Exam of total 30 marks, Applicants must note that Calculators are not allowed in the examination hall.
