About IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship

IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship 2016-17 is open for all the dental students of India. The participants have to register online first for Indian Dental Association (IDA) Colgate All Indian Poster Competition (AIPC) Scholarship.

  • To participate, the candidates have to submit their Abstract with a proper title according to the IDA guidelines.
  • The selected participants whose abstract will be selected will have to upload a poster, the candidates will have to choose any of the following two venues for their presentation:
    • World Dental Show (WDS) 2016 that will be conducted at Mumbai.
    • Indian Dental Conference (IDC) 2017.

IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age All Dental students of recognised dental colleges in India are eligible for AIPC scholarship
Details

Dental students can apply under any of the following categories:

  • Group 1- Undergraduate Dental Students (including interns)
  • Group 2- Post-Graduate Dental Students

IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship Application form and Process

All the eligible participants need to register themselves first on the online portal. Then they need to submit their Abstract with an appropriate title. After the successful acceptance of Abstract, participant (Non-IDA member) has to become IDA member before e-poster submission, failing to that may result in disqualification of the participant from AIPC.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

  • The abstract should not be longer than 250 words.
  • Abstract Title must be less than 10 words and express the researcher essence.
  • The Abstract should not include any table, charts or graphics in it.
  • The body of the Abstract should not contain any personal details of authors.
  • The abstract must avoid reference to institution names, location or funding sources.
  • Only the Author will be allowed to present his/her abstract at the conference. Maximum of three co-authors are allowed per abstract.
  • Only one submission per author will be allowed for the competition and the certificate for participation will only be presented to the co-authors.

Apart from case reports the abstract shall include the following sections:

  • Section 1: Aim or purpose- This section must be in one brief sentence, provide the rational for the investigation and/or the question to be answered.
  • Section 2: Materials and Methods- The experimental conditions must be clearly mentioned that is age group, nature of the animals, sex and approval from the Ethics Committee at the presenter’s institution should be reported briefly. The clinical approach of the sections should be precise and the period of time studied taken into account the interpretation. The methods used that is image analysis, biochemical data, histological, immune histological or molecular probes used for the analysis of the data, statistical significance.
  • Section 3: Results and Conclusions-The result should be stated in a maximum of three sentences. The conclusion part is that which is drawn from the presentation. The final statement is crucial because it supports the scientific value of the Poster.

Abstract consisting the above three sections must follow the below-given rules:

  • The authors must no submit on-going studies, or abstract with incomplete result or conclusion.
  • Abstracts of the unfinished researchers will not be evaluated
  • Abstracts should not be prepared like a presentation which has already been submitted.
  • The Abstract should not have been submitted and accepted at another national or international scientific meeting

IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship e-Poster Guidelines

 

  • The file should be in pgn, jpeg format
  • The file should not be more than 7 MB and less than 15 MB in size (if two images are submitted then the combine size of the two image must be less than 15 MB)
  • The file should be in landscape format
  • The Author can include their name, institution name, guide name and co-author’s name

Participants can select any of the two venues i.e. WDS or IDC to present their posters to the reviewers

IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship Selection Process

Abstract Selection in IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship

The Abstract submitted by the participant will be judged based on the following criteria:

By the Judges/reviewers: The selection of the judges/reviewers will be based on the following:

  • Scientific or clinical interest in the question to be assessed
  • Sufficient data provided
  • Innovation
  • Clinical Impact

By the voting process: The authors who have submitted their abstract, can ask their parents, friends, faculty etc to vote for their abstracts on AIPC Facebook page. These additional points will be considered for selection in case if there is a tie between 2 authors.

  • Abstract selection letters will sent by e-mail to each selected author and also displayed in “my message” selection of their abstract account.

Poster Selection in IDA Colgate AIPC Scholarship

The poster will only be submitted online by the shortlisted candidates whose abstract has been selected. The participants can choose any of the following two venues to present their Poster:

WDS 2016: WDS 2016 will be held on October 7, 2016, to October 9, 2016. The shortlisted candidates of the first round can choose WDS as their venue and can participate in the three consecutive days. The winners for the final rounds will be announced on the third day that is October 9, 2016. The list will be displayed on October 17, 2016, on the official website.

  • Winners from the 1st round will be called on the 3rd day of the Indian Dental Conference (IDC) 2017 for the Grand final round of competition.

IDC 2017: IDC 2017 will be held from October 17 & 18, 2016.The candidates whose abstract has been selected can also choose IDC as their venue and can need to present their poster presentations in the two consecutive days. The winners will be selected on the second day that is February 18, 2017. The selected finalists will be called on the 3rd day of the IDC 2017 for the Grand Finale round presentation at IDC 2017

The Final winners of All India Poster Competition will be announced on February 19, 2017.
