JEE Advanced 2017 exam date has been released by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. As per the latest news, the JEE Advanced 2017 will be conducted on May 21, 2017. Last year JEE Advanced was conducted by IIT Guwahati. In comparison to the last year, this year around 20,000 more candidates are expected to be eligible to write in JEE Advance after clearing JEE mains, thus taking the number of such candidates to 2.2 lakh of students.
JEE Advanced is a common entrance exam for admission to various Bachelor degree programs in IIT and other reputable engineering colleges such as Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, and the Indian Institute of Science. The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2017 will be conducted by IIT Madras.
Change in the Rule for JEE Advanced 2017
Last year the eligibility to appear in the test was to score at least 75 percent or to be in the top 20 highest scorers in class 12 examinations. But this year, the HRD Ministry decided not to consider class 12 examination marks for admitting students into Bachelor course in engineering colleges.
Procedure for applying to JEE Advanced
After clearing JEE Mains, candidates can apply only twice in consecutive years. Authorities will release a video regarding important questions such as fee structure, payment options, result options and choice filling sometime soon. Application notification for JEE advanced is yet to be released, the candidates can meanwhile check JEE Advanced Registration for last year.
JEE Advanced 2017 Reservations
The reservation for categories is as follows:
- General- 50.5 %
- SC- 15%
- ST- 7.5%
- OBC/NCL- 27%
Further, 3% horizontal reservation within these 4 categories is available for PwD candidates.
