CBSE gave an approval to the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE)  to send combined marks of Intermediate year 1 (Class 11) and Intermediate Year 2 (Class 12) for the computation of JEE Main Ranks. JEE Main is conducted by CBSE and it only takes Class 12 board exam marks into consideration for calculation of JEE Main Rank but for Board of Intermediate Education (BIE)  the combined marks of Intermediate Year 1 & 2 will form 40% weightage for the computation of the JEE Mains ranks.

Intermediate Year 1 and Intermediate 2 are both board examinations for the students of BIE board, Andhra Pradesh so the board wanted that the combined marks of both the years should form a part of 40% Weightage for JEE Main Rank.

The BIEAP issue had been taken up by HRD Minister Smriti Irani after the students objected towards consideration of only Class 12 marks for computation of ranks. She agreed upon the contention of the students and now BIE has agreed upon sending combined marks to CBSE.

BIE Secretary Rama Shankar Naik had received a letter from the CBSE seeking combined marks of Intermediate Year 1 & 2 and he sent it on Friday evening. The marks are already uploaded on the CBSE Website.

The JEE Main Ranks are expected to be announced on July 7, 2014.
