TANCET 2018 is an entrance examination conducted by Anna University, Chennai for the candidates who want to get admission to MBA, MCA and ME/ M. Tech /M. Arch./M. Plan. Anna University is a university in Tamil Nadu. TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) is for admission into

TANCET 2018 Eligibility criteria

MBA: The candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in any subject from a recognised institute in India with minimum 50% of marks (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category).

MCA: The candidates must be passed with minimum 3 year’s graduation degree in any subject from a recognised institute in India with minimum 50% of marks (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category).  Mathematics must be one of the main subjects in graduation or at 10+2 level.

MCA Lateral Entry: For MCA lateral entry, the candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in B.Sc. (Computer Science / Information Technology), BCA with minimum 50% of marks (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and Mathematics should be one of the subjects in graduation or at 10+2 level.

ME/M. Tech/ M. Arch. /M. Plan.: the candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in BE/B. Tech./B. Arch/B. Pharm. are eligible to apply. The candidate who have Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts, which are prescribed, are also eligible to apply.

The candidates who are currently going to appear in the final year examination of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply for TANCET 2018.

  • Candidates admitted through Lateral Entry in degree courses are not eligible except, B.E./B.Tech. and MCA degree courses.
  • Candidates with B.E./B.Tech. degrees obtained through Distance / Weekend mode are not eligible.

GATE Category Students

  • The candidates who have a valid GATE 2016, GATE 2017 and GATE 2018 score with qualifying marks for assistantship in the appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology.
  • Candidates who have a valid GATE 2016, GATE 2017 and GATE 2018 score with qualifying marks for assistantship in Engineering Science and Life Science papers also have to appear for TANCET 2018.


TANCET for Other State Candidates


The candidates belong to another state can also appear in the TANCET entrance examination, but the candidates have to follow the eligibility conditions stipulated by the admitting authority.

TANCET 2018 Application form and Admit Card

The candidates want to appear in TANCET 2018 entrance examination has to fill the online application form. The candidates can fill the application form only through online mode, and the TANCET application form is available on the official website of Anna University at www.annauniv.edu. To fill the online application form, the candidates have to follow the steps given below:

STEP 1: Registration

First, the candidates have to create a user account, and they have to provide a unique email id. Now candidates have to provide their personal details, domicile details, contact details. Now the candidates have to set a password for login, and the candidates have to save the unique id and password they have created now so they can use it for login for complete the application submission, download the hall ticket and check the TANCET exam result.

STEP 2: Login

Now the candidates have to log in using the email id and password which was registered during the registration process. After successful login, the candidates have to fill academic particulars such as marks details about class 10, 12 and graduation, the name of the subject in graduation, name of the course they want to get admission in.

STEP 3: Upload photo

After filling academic particulars, the candidates have to upload a recent passport size colour photograph which should be in jpeg or jpg format, and the size of the photograph must be within 25 kb. Now the candidates have to review the application form carefully, and they can change any details if required. After reviewing the application form, the candidates have to click the submit button for submission.

STEP 4: Make payment

Now the candidates have to make payment for the TANCET application fee using online payment mode. The candidates can make payment using a credit card or debit card or internet banking. After successfully making payment of the application fee, a completed application will be generated as PDF which is for the future reference.

Application submission

The candidates can submit the TANCET 2018 application form only through online mode on the official website of Anna University at www.annauniv.edu. After successful payment of the application form, the system will generate a completed application form with an application number. The candidates have to note down this application number for future correspondence.

TANCET 2018 Admit Card

TANCET 2018 Admit Card will be available to download for TANCET 2018 examination on the official website of TANCET whose link is given below. After uploading the TANCET hall ticket on the official website, the candidates can download their hall ticket by logging into their TANCET account. Admit card uploading date will be announced later. The candidates will have to produce their Hall ticket at the time of TANCET entrance examination and also at the time of admission.

TANCET 2018 Result and Counselling

The candidates will be selected for admission in the course they have applied for on the basis of TANCET 2018 examination score. The candidates can download their TANCET score card on the official website of Anna university within 10 days from the date of publication of TANCET Result 2018 of the entrance test. After selection for admission, the candidates have to produce their TANCET exam hall ticket and marks scored by them at the time of admission. If the candidates lost his/her hall ticket or TANCET exam mark sheet, a duplicate hall ticket/mark sheet can be obtained on payment of Rs 100.

There are total 3 sections in the examination. Part 1 and 2 are compulsory and Part 3 section has been chosen at the time of registration. if the candidate appears for a different section, Part 3 will not be evaluated.

Part 2 Marking Scheme: All the correct answers up to 20 will be awarded marks and all the wrong answers shall be taken into consideration for awarding negative marks.

TANCET Question Paper

TANCET question paper in each subject will have different versions. Each question paper will have a unique serial number. The candidates have to write and shade the question book serial number on the Answer sheet in the given boxes and open box respectively. Evaluation will be based on what the candidates specified on the answer sheet. Any mistake regard this may be the responsibility of the candidates. 

The candidates can get TANCET Question Paper of previous years from the Centre for Entrance Examinations and Admissions, Anna University, Chennai 600 025 on payment of Rs. 25/- each (by Demand Draft or Cash), in person.
