About Airmen Selection 2018

Indian Airforce Airmen Selection 2018 - Indian Air Force has released the notification regarding inviting online applications from the unmarried male candidates for selection test intake 02/2019. It is to be noticed by the candidates that the application process will start from 3 July 2018 and will conclude on 24 July 2018. The candidates before filling up the application form for Indian Airforce Airmen Selection should ensure their eligibility. Online applications will be filled by unmarried male candidates of India and Nepal in Group X trades (except education instructor trade) and Group Y trades (except automobile technician, ground training instructor, Indian air force (police), Indian air force (security) and musician trades). Indian Airforce Airmen Selection 2018 for 02/2019 batch is done for the following given groups -

  • X Group Trades -  (Except Education Instructor Trade)
  • Y Group Trades - (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF (S) and Musician Trade)
  • Group Y Trade-  Medical Assistant Trade Only.

This year applications are to be filled and submitted ‘online’ only. Candidates have to join Indian Airforce as the Technical and Non-Technical (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician) as the Airmen for 02/2019 batch. Applicants have to send the hard copy of the documents and the application form to the CASB centre mention below the page.

Airmen Selection 2018 Eligibility criteria

  • Nationality: Applicant must be an Unmarried Male Indian Citizens (Candidates from Nepal are also Eligible to Apply)
  • Age Criteria for 01/2019 Batch: The candidates must not be more than 21 years of age at the time of the enrollment, he/she must be born between 13 January 1998, and 02 January 2002 (both dates inclusive).
  • Age Criteria for 02/2019 Batch: The candidates must not be more than 21 years of age at the time of the enrollment, he/she must be born between 14 July 1998 and 26 June 2002 (both dates inclusive).
  • Eligibility for both Technical(group X) and Non-Technical (Group Y): The candidate must have passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. Candidates will take the examination for Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ subjects in one sitting and can qualify for Group ‘X’ or Group ‘Y’ or both i.e. if candidate passes in English, Physics and Mathematics, he is considered pass in Group ‘X’ and if he passes in English and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA) then he will be considered pass in Group ‘Y’. If a candidate clears in all the four subjects, he will be considered pass in Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’.
  • Non-Eligibility: The candidates who have been discharged for any reason from Indian Air Force are not eligible to apply. However, the candidates discharged from Indian Army/Indian Navy/Any other Government Organisation may apply subject to their discharge.
  • The group-wise specific eligibility is as follows: 

Eligibility For Airmen in Group X (Technical)

Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.OR
Must have passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering from any stream shown below, from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/ Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.

Airforce Y Group: Non-Technical (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician)

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

For Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade:  Candidate must have passed 10+2/ Intermediate/equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Airforce Y Group: Mandatory Medical Standards

There are General Medical Standards given below for both the groups i.e. Group X (Technical) Trades and Group Y (Non-Technical).

  • Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.
  • The candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.
  • He should be free from all communicable diseases and skin ailments.

Airmen Selection 2018 Application form and Admit Card

IAF registration for the selection of Airmen post (02/2019) batch will begin from 3 July 2018. Eligible candidates should fill and submit the application form on or before the due date. The last date to fill the application form of IAF for Airmen is 24 July 2018. It is to be noticed by the candidates that if any candidates who wish to apply for both Groups ‘X&Y’ in one sitting, should fulfil eligibility criteria of each of the category individually.

  • Applicants have to fill the application form with their correct and accurate details, if any information is found to be incorrect on verification then the candidature will be considered disqualified. It is highly recommended to fill the IAF Registration form for Airmen Intake very carefully.
  • The candidates have to make payment of the examination fee using Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/Internet Banking through the online payment gateway. The applicants can also make payment using demand draft.  After the successful filling up of the application form and making payment of the examination fee the applicants have to submit it.

Document to be uploaded while filling the application form for Indian Air Force Airmen Selection 2018

The candidates filling the online application form for Indian Air Force Airmen Selection 2018 for 02/2019 batch have to upload the following documents while filling the online application form -

  • Class 10/matriculation passing certificate
  • Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent mark sheet/mark sheets (if applying on the basis of 12th/intermediate or equivalent educational qualifications)
  • 3 Yrs Engineering Diploma Final Year Mark sheet (if applying on the basis of 3 Yrs Engineering Diploma from a Govt. recognised polytechnic in the prescribed stream
  • Passport size colour photograph of size 10 KB to 50 KB (front portrait in light background without headgear except for Sikhs) recent (taken not before November 2017) The photograph is to be taken with candidate holding a blank slate in front of his chest with his Name and Date of Photograph taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letters
  • Candidate’s left-hand thumb impression image (Size 10 KB to 50 KB)
  • Candidate’s signature image (Size 10 KB to 50 KB).
  • Candidate’s parents (Father/Mother/Guardian) signature image (if the candidate is below 18 years from the date of filling the online application
  • The mark sheet indicating marks in English subject (if applying on the basis of 3 Yrs Engineering Diploma qualification) in a diploma or 12th/10th if English is not a subject in diploma

Application Form Submission

Once the candidate completes filling the application form of Indian Air Force Airmen Selection for 02/2019 batch, they are suggested to cross-check the information filled by them before finally submitting the application form. When the candidates submit the application form, they are required to keep the printout of the same with them for future use. The application process is completely online so no hardcopy of the application form will be sent to the office of Airforce.

Airmen Air Force Admit Card

The admit card for Indian Airforce Airmen Selection test will be available to download for the candidates in the month of April 2018. The exact date to release the admit card to download is yet to be notified by the Indian Air Force. Indian Airforce will release the online provisional admit card which is to be downloaded by the applicant and a coloured printout of the same is to be carried by them at the examination centre on the day of test as indicated on their respective Admit Cards.

NOTE - The candidates applying for Indian Air Force Airmen Recruitment 2018 for 02/2019 batch have to pay the online examination fee of Rs.250 using online and offline modes of making payment.

Airmen Selection 2018 Result and Counselling

Indian Airforce Selection procedure is always conducted under the fair and free means; all the applicants will be shortlisted and selected on the basis of their merit and only after qualifying all selection rounds. Further, the following procedure will be followed for the Indian Airforce Recruitment for Airmen

Indian Airforce Airmen Selection Process 2018

  • STEP 1:  Written Exam: Applicants have to go through the Written Exam conducted for the initial shortlisting of the candidates. Central Airmen Selection Board reserves the right to shortlist the applications on the basis of available vacancies and number of eligible applicants by applying cut off percentage.
  • STEP 2: Verification of Documents: Applicants will go through the verification of the documents prior to the exam at the examination centre only; they have to carry the list of documents along with them at the test centres given at the bottom of the page.
  • STEP 3: Adaptability Test: Applicants who have passed the Written Tests will have to undertake Adaptability Test-1 which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.
  • STEP 4: Physical Fitness Test (PFT): All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-1 are to undergo Physical Fitness Test on the same or the next day. PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 7 minutes. Candidates will also have to complete 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats within the stipulated time to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test.
  • STEP 5: Adaptability Test - 2: All candidates who pass PFT will have to undertake Adaptability Test-2 as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test-2 is for the screening of the suitable candidates with requisite comprehension and communication ability.
  • STEP 6: Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify Adaptability Test-2 will be issued with medical appointment letter at Airmen Selection Centre for their medical examination at designated Medical Board Centre (MBC) on a specified date. Medical Examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards and policy in vogue on subject issue. The medical examination would also include Baseline Investigation as listed below:-
    • Blood Haemogram - Hb, TLC, DLC
    • Urine RE/ME
    • (Biochemistry (i) Blood Sugar Fasting & PP (ii) Serum Cholesterol (iii) Urea, Uric acid, Creatinine (iv) LFT—Serum Bilirubin, SGOT, SGPT
    • X-Ray chest (PA view)
    • ECG (R)

Requirements from the candidate - The candidate should bring latest prescription (one-month validity) and spectacles for corrected vision if used. The prescription must bear the signature, stamp and registration number of Eye Specialist. Candidates are also advised to get tartar and stains removed from teeth before appearing for the Medical Examination. Ears should be free of wax.

Indian Air Force All India Selection List

All India provisional select list (AISL) will be published on 31 April 2018, at all the airmen selection centres (ASCS) and on www.airmenselection.gov.in. However, the final list will be out on 10 June 2019. It comprises of the shortlisted candidates from all over India that has cleared all the screening process including Medical and Fitness Test. The validity of the AISL will be 12 months from the date of display and will be applicable only for intakes 02/2019.

  • Candidates whose names figure in Main List of AISL will be considered for enrolment subject to availability of vacancies, the validity of AISL, seniority of AISL (previous valid AISLs get preference), their merit position in the AISL and their medical fitness.
  • Candidature of all the Main List/Wait List candidates who are not enrolled, will get cancelled on expiry of the validity of AISL and they will not be considered for future enrolments in IAF against their that Roll Number.
  • However, enrolment in IAF as and when called will be subject to availability of vacancies and their medical fitness at the time of enrolment. Call letters will be sent to the candidates on the address provided by them at the time of Selection Test.
  • List of finally selected candidates called for enrolment in intake 02/2019 will be published on the official website on 10 June 2019. Separate call letter will be sent to the candidates called for enrolment.

Group X (Technical)

Electronics Fitter

As an Electronics Fitter candidates will be trained to operate and maintain Radar, Voice, Data transmission-reception equipment mounted on latest airborne weapon delivery systems and ground-based air defence systems. Applicants  will get trained in Digital Electronics, measuring instruments, radar technology, latest electronics devices and related trade fundamentals

Electrical Fitter

Candidates have maintained power supply system of latest types of aircraft, airborne missiles, and associated ground systems and also maintain photo equipment mounted on airborne weapon systems and operate ground-based photosystems. They will get trained in electrical trade, operation and maintenance of digital devices, electronic devices etc

Structure Fitter

Candidates are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components, and controls of an aircraft. Regular checks for the entire hydraulic and pneumatic system to ensure proper functioning against leaks are also part of their duties. They will also be assigned the responsibility of marshalling, parking, Ticketing and ground handling of aircraft.

Propulsion Fitter.

Candidates will repair, maintain and prepare for use propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery system.

Automobile Fitter

Candidates are responsible for maintenance and repair of all type of light and heavy-duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment etc.

Mechanical System Fitter

Candidates will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles and aircraft fuelling equipment. Complete aircraft ground support equipment will also be repaired and maintained by the candidate. Candidates will be trained in handling and preparation of bombs and explosives, electrical system trade, workshop trade, mechanical trade and automobile mechanics.

Weapon Fitter

Candidates will prepare, maintain and service armaments, ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles, and other weapon delivery systems. Candidate will also operate and maintain small arms and bomb destruction equipment. You will be trained to handle bombs, explosives, arms and their installation on weapon delivery platforms

Workshop Fitter (Smith

Candidates will undertake major structural repairs of all aircraft at central repair facilities. Candidates will be trained in workshop trades of materials treatment, welding, heat treatment, smithy and basic machine tools etc

Workshop Fitter (Mechanical).

Candidates will undertake repair and maintenance work of mechanical nature. You will be trained in workshop trade and practices.

Group Y Non-Technical (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician)

Admin Assistant.

Candidate will maintain and analyse records, files, information of personnel. They will also manage ration supplies, Cook Houses, and Messes

Accounts Assistant.

Candidates will record and manage accounting of pay and allowances, equipment, logistics transactions, public fund and cash flow etc.

Logistics Assistant.

Candidates are involved in the procurement, storage and handling inventory control as well as accounting of Military Stores

Environment Support Services Assistant (ESSA)

This job involves maintenance of the fire-fighting section. It also requires the candidate to ensure the upkeep of hygiene of Air Force Campus.

Ops Assistant.

Candidate will operate various systems of Air Traffic Control Centre, Air Field, and Air Defense System. They will be trained in the operation of Radars, Display Units, reporting and tracking procedures of Airborne Weapon Systems etc.

Communication Technician

As a Communication Technician candidate will operate, service and maintain all types of state of the art communication devices, telephone exchange and radio equipment.

Meteorological Assistant

Candidates are trained to undertake weather observation and to maintain meteorological instruments and also responsible for plotting of charts, taking balloon observations and compilation of weather summaries

Medical Assistant

Candidates will be made familiar with Nursing and First-aid and also involved in Management of Medical Stores, Dispensaries, and Ward Supervision

  • The candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs. 14,600 per month during training period.
  • Other than pay scales, allowances, and Canteen cards will also be issued to the candidates on successful selection to the Indian Airforce. Pay scale may rise as per the career progression of the individual, subsequently in years.
