Latest Update: The CAT result has declared and now the IIM Calcutta is calling the candidates for an interview for the batch 2017-19. The call for interview window is given on this page below. The candidates need to provide the CAT user id and an email address (used for CAT 2016 Registration) to log in for IIM Calcutta PGP-PGDM interview call. The candidates shortlisted for the interview will have to appear at the time of the personal interview.

This page will give you details regarding admission to PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management). PGDM offered in IIM is a two-year course which is equivalent to MBA and admissions are done on the basis of their CAT Exam Score. 

  • This year CAT Exam 2016 was conducted by IIM Bangalore on December 4, 2016
  • Candidates do not have to apply separately for PGDM course in IIM-C because candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their CAT percentile.
  • CAT Exam score will be required by the Indian Nationals while for the Foreign Nationals or NRI candidates GMAT Score is mandatory for admissions.

IIM Calcutta Eligibility criteria

Educational Qualifications: Minimum 50% (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories) in Bachelor’s degree in any stream of duration 3 years or more will be required by the applicants who are preparing to pursue their PGDM from IIM Calcutta. 

  • In case candidates are awarded grades or CGPA , their result would be converted to the percentage using the rules followed by their institutions else their CGPA will be divided by maximum CGPA and further multiplied by 100 to get the percentage of marks they have acquired.

Institutional Qualification: Institute/University from where candidates have completed their bachelor’s degree should be recognised by UGC or recognition equivalent to Ministry of HRD.

  • Foreign Candidates: In case the applicant is Foreign National or NRI their Institution/ University degree needs to be certified by Association of Indian Universities.

Qualifying Entrance Exam

  • If a candidate is Indian national, they must have appeared in the CAT Examination and has a valid score (details given towards the end of the page).
  • For NRI’s and Foreign Nationals a Valid GMAT Score of the GMAT Exam taken after January 2014. Foreign Nationals and NRI’s should have minimum given percentile to be eligible for admissions in IIM Calcutta.

Final Year Students: The candidates who are pursuing their final year of the bachelor’s degree and students whose results of the final semester are awaited can also apply but they have to submit a certificate by their respective institutional head or principal stating that they have undergone their Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% till date and that certificate is to submit to the Institute of Management before June 30, 2017.

IIM Calcutta fees for the PGDM course is to be paid in instalments as per the guidelines of IIM Calcutta. The annual Course fees for the IIM-C (IIM Calcutta) will be averaged Rs 9, 30,000 that is excluding the transportation, Hostel, Mess and Laundry. PGDM from IIM Calcutta will cost about 19 Lacs.

The candidates have to go through the shortlisting process to reach the final selections. Initially candidates those who have given CAT Exam will be screened according to their minimum CAT Exam score as given in the table:

Applicants will be shortlisted for the PI round (Personal Interview) on the basis of their composite scores of CAT percentile and Class 10-12 Scores as shown in the above. Section wise cut-off of the CAT 2016 might be higher than the given above cut-off. 

STAGE 1: Stage 1 shortlisting will be done on the basis of the composite of CAT and Class 10-12 Scores.

STAGE 2: Candidates shortlisted in round 1 will be facing the PI (Personal Interview) round after being shortlisted in stage 1.

The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; minimum qualification on the above-mentioned criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta.
