About DU JAT

DU JAT 2017 is an entrance exam for DU admission and will be conducted for admission to BBS/ BFIA/ BMS / B.A.(H) Business Economics in the participating colleges of Delhi University. Earlier DU JAT was known as DU BMS Entrance Exam and it was conducted only for admission to the colleges offering BMS Course. From last year onwards two new courses have been included, so DU JAT 2016 will be conducted for the following courses: 

  • Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)
  • BBA in Financial Investment Analysis (FIA)
  • B.A.(Hons.) Business Economics

DU JAT Eligibility criteria

Age: There is no minimum age bar for admission to BMS, B.A and BBA in DU

Academic Qualification: The candidate should have passed /appeared in Senior Secondary School Examination of CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Delhi.

  • The candidate should have appeared and secured pass marks in English and three subjects from among the following:
    • Accountancy, Agriculture, Biology, Biotechnology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Geography, History, Informatics Practices, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.

Minimum Qualifying Marks - The average marks scored in the four subjects mentioned above for the different categories should be as follows:

General At least 60%
OBC At least 54%
CW/PWD At least 57%
SC/ST Passing marks


Not eligible for the Joint Admission Test

  • Candidates who have got Compartment in the current year will not be considered for DU admission.
  • Candidates who have appeared in the class 12 examination in 2017 and who repeat a paper for improvement to gain eligibility will also not be offered admission

DU JAT Application form and Admit Card

Online application Process - DU JAT 2017 Application form 2017 will only be available online and students have no other option to fill the Application form. 

The Online application process for DU JAT 2017 will begin from the 2nd week of May 2017, and will tentatively continue till the second week of June 2017. DU JAT 2017 Entrance Test will be held only in Delhi.

Foreign candidates: Foreign Students seeking admission to BMS/BBA(FIA)/B.A.(Hons) Business Economics course(s) against the prescribed quota of seats earmarked for them, shall have to apply through the Foreign Students Advisor. The applicants should approach:

DU JAT 2017 Admit Card

 DU JAT 2017 Admit Card can be downloaded from the official website from in the first week of June 2017.


The candidates have to make payment of the application fee as under:

Category One Course
General and OBC candidates Rs 500
SC/ST/CW/PWD candidates Rs 250

DU JAT Result and Counselling

Candidates shortlisted for group discussion and personal interviews will be displayed on the official website. DU JAT Written test is an eliminative test. The candidate who will qualify the DU JAT entrance exam will be called for Group discussion. Approximately four to six times the number of seats for the relevant categories for BMS and BBA (FIA) Course shall be called for group discussion and interview. 

DU JAT 2017 Selection Process

For admission to BMS, B.A. (Hons.) and BBA(FIA), the candidates will be selected on the basis of Joint Admission Test, an interview and a group discussion. Group Discussion and Personal interviews will be conducted for all the three courses. The weightage of the Entrance examination, Interview and Group discussion (GD) is as follows:

DU JAT 2017 Counselling

The candidates with the ranks given below are invited for the Counseling session to be held on August 23, 2016. The status of seats available as on date at different colleges is also provided below. In case some seats remain vacant after this counselling, a notice shall be put up on the website in the 3rd week of August 2017, providing the status and the schedule for another counselling session.

Venue: S.P. Jain Auditorium, University of Delhi South Campus, Near Dhaula Kuan (UDSC).

The candidates will be allotted colleges on the basis of their overall rank in the respective category, their preference exercised at the time of counselling and the availability of seat in the college concerned.

  • The candidates who will be assigned seat in the 3rd week of August 2017, must complete all the admission formalities in the 4th week of August 2017.
  • The candidates should be physically present on the day and time of counselling as per the schedule notified by the University. If in case the candidate is unable to attend the counselling, they can send an authorised representative to participate in the counselling process.
  • Candidates who have been offered admission has to deposit the fees (as applicable) and fulfil the admission formalities within the stipulated time.
  • At the time of admission, the candidate will have to give an undertaking that they have not taken admission to any other course/ college in the University of Delhi.

DU JAT Exam pattern

  • All the questions will be multiple choice questions
  • Syllabus: There is no prescribed syllabus or format for the entrance test
  • Duration: 120 minutes
  • Total Questions: 120
  • The answers are to be marked by blue or black ball point pen on a separate OMR answer sheet
  • Scoring: Each correct carry plus 3 marks, each wrong answer will get a negative marking of 1 mark and a question not answered will get a score of zero marks.
