JIPMER MBBS 2018 Admissions will be done on basis of an entrance exam conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) and it is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India. JIPMER is a Government Institute which has been declared as an “Institution of National Importance" by an Act of Parliament, JIPMER, Puducherry, Act, 2008. The JIPMER Exam will be conducted in 75 cities in India.

JIPMER 2018 entrance exam is for admission to MBBS course. JIPMER offers Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Super Specialty Medical Training through a working hospital (JIPMER Hospital) and offers admission to M.B.B.S., B.Sc., M.Sc., M.D., M.S, Degree Courses in 37 disciplines.

JIPMER Mock Test 2018
 - Candidates can go through the Mock Test for computer- based Test which will be an online exam. Link for the mock test will be available on JIPMER’s Website under 'JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination'. 



  • JIPMER now has two campuses, one in Puducherry and the other in Karaikal.
  • Admission to M.B.B.S. Course for 150 seats at JIPMER Puducherry and 50 seats at JIPMER Karaikal is done through JIPMER Entrance Exam conducted once a year.
  • MBBS course duration is 4 years and 6 months + 1-year compulsory Rotatory Internship.

JIPMER MBBS Eligibility criteria

Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian National or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).

Age: Candidate must have attained an age of 17 years on or before December 31, 2018 (born on or before 1 January 2002).

Academic qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 Higher/Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English/ Equivalent
  • Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March / April 2018 and whose results have NOT yet been declared can also apply for admission

Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/OHP) at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination.
  • OPH candidates belonging to general category must have secured a minimum aggregate of 45% marks at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination.
  • Candidates must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology and English individually.

JIPMER MBBS Application form and Admit Card

The candidates can apply for JIPMER 2018 through online mode only. There is no offline Process of filling the JIPMER 2018 Application Form. Candidates have to apply through online mode by visiting the official website. The application fees can be paid via Net Banking/ Credit Card and Debit Card.

Documents to be uploaded with JIPMER MBBS Application Form

Photograph: Candidates have to upload a One (1) recent colour passport size photograph with the light background taken on or after January 31, 2018.  

Signature: Candidate has to affix their SIGNATURE in an area of 80mm Width X 35mm Height on paper with a black ball point pen as well as below mentioned specifications. Dimensions: 80mm width x 35mm Height; Format: .jpg; Size: Max 80 KB


JIPMER MBBS admit card will be available on the official website in 3rd week of June 2017, only for those eligible candidates who have submitted their duly filled application forms before the due date.  Admit card will not be dispatched through the post to the candidates, so no correspondence in this regard will be considered.

Application Fee:

The application fee for three categories is given below. However, the OPH Category is exempted from paying the application fee. The application fee would be paid only once by the candidates.

JIPMER MBBS Result and Counselling

A separate list of candidates applying under Self Financing Scheme for 5 seats will be drawn from the NRI / OCI applicants.

  • Result for the entrance examination is expected to be declared on or before Last week of June 2018. It will be available on JIPMER website and will also be displayed on the Notice Board of Academic Section, JIPMER.

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in JIPMER entrance exam. Candidates who secure less than the minimum percentile in JIPMER Entrance will not be selected for Admission. Merit List would be drawn category wise based on minimum percentile as given below:

JIPMER MBBS Exam pattern

  • Duration of exam: 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) examination in English. 
  • Number of Questions: It will consist of 200 multiple choice questions 
  • Mode of Exam: Computer based exam
  • Marking Scheme: One mark will be awarded for every correct answer. There will be no negative marking.

The exam will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by State Board Hr. Sec. and CBSE for class 11 & Class 12.Each question will be followed by four answers of which only one is correct / most appropriate.

Important Points related to JIPMER MBBS Exam

  • Candidates have to carry ONLY Admit Card along with Valid Identity Proof and Photocopy of the same ID proof inside the hall.
  • Biometric finger print and image capture will be done for every candidate on the day of Exam by the authorised personnel.

  • No candidates would be allowed to talk or discuss in the examination, any candidates found doing so will be dealt with as per the norms of the university.

JIPMER is exempted from NEET

The NEET exam is mandatory to get the admission in medical courses in India. However, there is an exemption as the admission in JIPMER and AIIMS are not done on the basis of NEET.
