About AIFD WAT

AIFD WAT 2017 is an entrance exam for admission in B.Sc. Fashion and Apparel Design in Army Institute of Fashion and Design, Bangalore. The institute is affiliated to Bangalore University. AIFD WAT 2017 exam is for admission B.Sc in Fashion & Apparel Design.

It is 3 years undergraduate course and is for admission to the wards of Army personnel. Army Institute of Fashion and Design is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible ex-Army personnel and wards of war widows/widows of the Army.

Total Number of Seats: 60 (Very limited seats for civilians)

AIFD WAT Exam Date: Written Admission Test (WAT) will be conducted tentatively on Last week of April 2017 by Army Institute of Fashion & Design, Bangalore. The Examination cities are: Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow & Guwahati.

AIFD WAT Eligibility criteria

Academic Qualification: The applicant must have passed 10+2 / Equivalent examination in any Combination with a minimum of 35% aggregate marks from recognised boards by UGC / university.

The children of following categories of Army personnel are eligible:

  • Serving Army personnel: Serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army.
  • Ex-Army:
    • Personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
    • Medical officers / Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years.
  • Adopted child: Adopted child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.
  • Step children: Step children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army.
  • APS:
    • Personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D (Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
    • Personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
    • Personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
  • Members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
  • TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

Physical Fitness: Candidates should have been certified by MH / RMO / Registered Medical Practitioner as physically and mentally fit to pursue the course. At the time of admission, the candidates are required to submit the Certificate.

AIFD WAT Application form and Admit Card

AIFD WAT 2017 Application Form can only be filled online by the candidates. The Online Application form will be available from the first week of January 2017.

  • Online Downloading of Application form: Eligible candidates can download the application form from the official website. Attach a DD of Rs. 550 drawn in favour of ARMY INSTITUTE OF FASHION & DESIGN payable at Bangalore.
  • Requesting Application form by post: Candidates can obtain the prospectus & Application form from the Office of AIFD Bangalore, Nagareshwara Nagenahalli, Kothanur Post, Bangalore – 560077, through requisition along with a crossed demand draft for Rs 550  (which includes Rs.50 as postal charges) in favour of Army Institute of Fashion & Design payable at Bangalore.
  • From Institute, Army Headquarters, Command Headquarters: Prospectus can also be availed from the Institute, Army Headquarters (AWES) and all the Command Headquarters (AWES) on payment of demand draft of Rs 500.

AIFD WAT Result and Counselling

Candidates will be shortlisted according to their performance in Written Admission Test (WAT).

  • Display of Result: AIFD WAT 2017 Result will be published in the second week of May 2017, and will be put up on the AIFD website and will also be displayed at AIFD Bangalore, college notice board.
  • Intimation to the passed Candidates: Candidates declared to have passed WAT will also be individually informed by AIFD Bangalore.
  • Payment of registration of fees: The shortlisted students will be required to pay the Course registration fee of Rs.10,000 & Rs 5000 for hostel through a Crossed Demand Draft in favour of “Army Institute of Fashion & Design” payable at Bangalore on or before last week of May 2017
  • Final List of Selection: After the receipt of registration fee from the willing candidates, the final list of UG admission will be announced on the Institute website in the last week of May 2017.

AIFD WAT Exam pattern

Duration: 3 hours

Total Marks:100 marks

Type and Language of the Test: Objective type test in The English language.

There will be no negative marking.

Questions will be objective type and answers have to be marked using ball point pen only. 

The test will have the following components:

  • Intelligence and Reasoning Test.
  • General Awareness Test.
  • English Language Competency & Comprehension Test. (including short essay)
