NTSE Stage 2 Exam

NTSE Stage 2 Exam was conducted on 14 May 2017 for the different states across multiple test centres in India. The NTSE Stage 1 exam was conducted by NCERT and was held in Pen and Paper based format on 5, 6 and 13 November 2016 for the different states. The students who have cleared the NTSE Stage 1 exam from their respective state and UTs are only eligible to appear in the exam. Indian students studying abroad will appear directly in NTSE Stage 2 exam and will compete with the Indian students for the NTSE prestigious scholarship. The complete details about exam pattern, answer keys, result, the number of participants from each state is given here.

The Indian students who have cleared NTSE Stage 1 exam are directly eligible for NTSE Stage 2 exam. The NTSE Stage 1 Result is out so that the candidates can check the same by following the link. The candidates need not apply again for the NTE Stage 2 exam and there is no application fee. The Indian students studying abroad has to fill a separate application form for the NTSE Stage 2 Exam.

The NCERT has issued the admit card for those candidates who has been selected to appear in the NTSE Stage 2 exam and it contains the details like the name of the candidate, photograph, test centre venue and address. NTSE Stage 2 Exam Pattern

The NTSE Stage 2 exam was conducted in English and Hindi Language. Negative Marking in NTSE has also been introduced from the year 2015 onwards and for every wrong answer 1/3 of the marks will be deducted and no negative marks would be awarded for unanswered questions. The candidate has to report at the test centre at 8.00 a.m. in the morning.

MAT Exam- This test is given to the candidates to judge their power of reasoning, ability to think, the ability to judge, evaluate or discriminate, the ability to visualise in space, spatial orientation, etc. A variety of questions, for example, analogies, classification, series, pattern perception, hidden figures, coding decoding, block assembly, problem-solving etc. are used for this purpose. Each question carries one mark.

  • Qualifying Marks for General Category is 40% in each paper

NTSE Stage 2 Examination Centre

The National Council of Educational Research and Training has also released the list of the examination centre for the NTSE Stage 2 exam which was conducted on 14 May 2017. The candidates had appeared at their respective examination centre along with the admit card on the exam date. The list of the NTSE Stage 2 examination centre is given below.

NTSE Stage 2 Answer Keys

The answer keys for NTSE Stage 2 has now been released by the NCERT after conducting the exam. The candidates who have appeared in the NTSE Stage 2 exam can now check their answer key. The candidates will also be given an opportunity to give a feedback for the NTSE Answer keys in a specified time. In case they find any discrepancy in the answer keys or feel that some questions can have more than one answer, they can write to NCERT.

NTSE Stage 2 Result

The NCERT follows a very transparent system in the declaration of the NTSE Result. The answer sheets, answer keys, and marks scored in MAT & SAT would be displayed tentatively in July/ August 2017 by the NCERT. The final result will have no state wise quota and it will be based on marks secured by the students in the NTSE Stage 2 written exam. NTSE Result contains the following things

  • Scanned Images of SAT, MAT, and Language Test OMR Sheet
  • Final NTSE Answer Keys for all the exams

NTSE Scholarship amount has been increased to Rs.1250 per month for Class 11& 12, Rs. 2000 per month for Undergraduate & Post Graduate Students and for Ph.D students the scholarship would be paid in accordance with the UGC norms.
