Post Matric Scholarship is provided by each and every state government and UT to the students after Class 10. Post Matric Scholarship is provided for completing the higher education studies. It is provided to SC, ST, OBC and Minority students of a state who are meritorious students but cannot afford the higher education. In some states like Uttar Pradesh, Post matric scholarship is also offered to General Category students who are below the poverty line.

Below given is the list of all Post Matric Scholarships that are offered by various state governments, UTs & Ministries to the students.

Post Matric Scholarship for Minority Students

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minority Students provides financial assistance to students of minority community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability. This scholarship is also known as MOMA Post Matric Scholarship.

The rates of the maintenance allowance per month in various groups range from Rs. 380 to Rs. 1200 for hostellers and in the case of day scholars, the rates range from Rs. 230 to Rs. 550 per month. In 2014-15, 9,05,620 minority students were benefitted from the Post Matric MOMA Scholarship and in all Rs. 501 crore was disbursed by the ministry to the students. 

Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility for Minority Students

To be eligible for Post Matric Scholarship for Minority Students, the annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2 lakh and the student must be from the notified minority community in India that is Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis).

Post Matric Scholarship for SC & ST Students

Post Matric Scholarship for SC & ST Students provides financial assistance to the SC/ST students studying at Post Matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to pursue higher education. The rates of the maintenance allowance per month in various groups range from Rs. 230/- to Rs. 550 for day scholars and in the case of hostellers, the rates range from Rs. 380/- to Rs. 1200 per month. Beside this, there, are other allowances viz Study Tour charges, Book allowances, Thesis typing charges, etc. Post Matric scholarship also includes reimbursement of non-refundable compulsory fees charged by educational institutions. Students with disabilities are also eligible for other assistance viz. Reader charges for the blind students etc.

 

Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility for SC/ST Students

To be eligible for Post Matric scholarship scheme for SC and ST students, the Annual Parental/Guardians Income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh. Post Matric Scholarship Scheme provides for 100% Central Assistance to the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations over and above the committed liability. The North Eastern State are exempted from Committed Liability.

Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students provides financial assistance to the OBC students studying at Post Matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to pursue higher education. Post Matric Scholarship is awarded to the meritorious student belonging to OBC category of a particular state who have passed their class 12 and have scored outstanding results despite tough competitions and tougher financial conditions.

Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility for OBC Students

To be eligible for Post Matric Scholarship for OBC, the applicant must have annual family income less than Rs. 1 Lakh per annum. Under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC Students, the allowances will be based on the course they pursue after class 12.
