About NSEC

NSEC or National Standard Examination in Chemistry is organized by Indian Association of Physics Teachers in collaboration with Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT). NSEC 2017 is a qualifying stage leading eligible candidates to participate in Indian National Chemistry Olympiad ( A Qualifying stage for International Chemistry Olympiad.

NSEC has organized annually and students up to class 12 can take part in the Examination. Being a gateway to the Internationally recognized Olympiad, NSEC offers participants an opportunity to excel in the respective subject.

NSEC Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age  Up to class 12
Details

 Applicants should be born on or after 1 July 1997 and in addition, should be studying in class 12 or lower as of 30 November 2017

Not Eligible to participate in NSEC 2017

Students those who have passed class 12 cannot take part in the NSEC.

NSEC Reward

On qualifying NSEC 2017, the selected candidate will be eligible to participate in the  Indian National Chemistry Olympiad, a qualifying stage for the International Chemistry Olympiad 2017.

  • Other Awards & Certificates for NSEC 2017 participants

    • Certificates will be given to top 10% students of each centre (List of centres is available in the ‘Application Mode & Process Section’)
    • Merit certificates will be given to top 1% student in each subject
    • Special Merit Certificate and a book will be given to National top 1% students
    • Top 35 students will receive Gold Medals

NSEC Application form and Process

Candidates have to register through their schools or registered centres. The registration form of the National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC) can only be filled by the Institutions. The steps of filling the form are given below:

  • STEP 1: The schools have to follow the link given below in order to apply for the NSEC Olympiad.
  • STEP 2: The schools have to fill the KV code to further fill the application form.
  • STEP 3: After that, the schools have to fill all the required details such as Principal’s Name, Principal’s Email Id, No of candidates for the test etc.
  • STEP 4: After filling all the details, it is the sole responsibility of the schools to check all the details filled by them are correct in all aspect. They should click on "Apply" button after inspecting the details.
  • STEP 5: An OTP will be sent to the Principal’s Mobile Number which should be filled in the “Registration Confirmation/ Activation Form which will confirm the registration.

Submission of the Application Form

The candidates who have filled the application form should submit the same to complete the application process. Before the final submission of the application form, the candidates should make sure that they have filled the correct details on the form.

NSEC Admit Card is now available to download for the candidates to appear in the examination scheduled to be conducted on 26 November 2017. The candidates can download the admit card from 13 November 2017 onwards.

The admit card is an important document to be carried at the examination centre. The link to download the admit card is given below. The candidates have to enter their username and password to download the admit card.

NSEC Selection Process

Candidates of NSEC 2017 will be based on marks obtained in their written Examination. More the marks secured by the candidate more will be their probability of being selected. The NSEC result will be declared in the first week of January 2018 for the exam scheduled to be conducted on 26 November 2017.

NSEC Syllabus Examination Pattern 2017

Syllabus for NSEC is broadly equivalent to the syllabus of CBSE Chemistry of the senior secondary level i.e. class 11 & 12.

  • The NSEC question paper will consist of 80 Multi Choice questions with only one correct option as the answer.
  • There will be -1 marking for the wrong answers.
