About NSEC

NSEC or National Standard Examination in Chemistry is organized by Indian Association of Physics Teachers in collaboration with Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT). NSEC 2016 is a qualifying stage leading eligible candidates to participate in Indian National Chemistry Olympiad ( A Qualifying stage for International Chemistry Olympiad.

NSEC has organized annually and students up to class 12 can take part in the Examination. International Chemistry Olympiad will be organized in Karachi, Pakistan in the month of July 2016. Being a gateway to the Internationally recognized Olympiad, NSEC offers participants an opportunity to excel in the respective subject.

NSEC 2016 will be held on November 27, 2016 (11:00 am to 1:00 pm)

Latest Update: NSEC Result 2016 has been declared for the exam that was conducted on 27 November 2016. Candidates need to scroll down below to check their Result. INO Chemistry 2017 will be conducted on 28 January 2017.

NSEC Eligibility Criteria

Gender  Any
Region  All India
Class/ Age  Up to class 12

 Applicants should be born on or after July 1, 1997 and in addition, should be studying in class 12 or lower as of November 30, 2016

Not Eligible to participate in NSEC 2016

Students those who have passed class 12 cannot take part in the NSEC.

NSEC Reward

On qualifying NSEC 2016, selected candidate will be eligible to participate in the  Indian National Chemistry Olympiad, a qualifying stage for the International Chemistry Olympiad 2017.

  • Other Awards & certificates for NSEC 2016 participants

    • Certificates will be given to top 10% students of each center (List of centers is available in the ‘Application Mode & Process Section’)
    • Merit certificates will be given to top 1% student in each subject
    • Special Merit Certificate and a book will be given to National top 1% students
    • Top 35 students will receive Gold Medals

NSEC Application form and Process

Students can enroll themselves through their respective school/college registered as NSEC Exam Centers.

Registration Fee for NSEC 2016- Rs. 100 to be deposited at the time of registration at the NSEs center. No money should be sent to the IAPT office.

NSEC Selection Process

Candidates of NSEC 2016 will be based on marks obtained in their written Examination. More the marks secured by the candidate more will be their probability of being selected.

NSEC 2016 Result has been declared for the exam that was conducted on 27 November 2017. A total number of 373 students are selected.

NSEC Syllabus Examination Pattern 2016

Syllabus for NSEC is broadly equivalent to the syllabus of CBSE Chemistry of the senior secondary level i.e. class 11 & 12.

  • The NSEC question paper will consist of 80 Multi Choice questions with only one correct option as the answer.
  • There will be negative marking for the wrong answers.
