CAT is an entrance exam conducted for admission to various Post Graduation Management programs in IIMs. This year the CAT exam is scheduled to be conducted on 25 November 2018 by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. It will be a Computer Based Test. The scores obtained by the students in CAT will be calculated and accepted by the top-ranking management institutes including the IIMs. The exam will be held for 180 minutes and will be divided into three sections
- Verbal ability and reading comprehension
- Data interpretation
- Logical reason and quantitative ability.

It is assumed that by now that the candidates must have covered all the major topics of the three sections given above and this is primarily the time to practice and revise for the final showdown. 1. Well maintained Exam Strategy
First and the most important thing to inbuilt before appearing for an exam is ‘Develop a strategy’. As discussed with the last year toppers, they prefer to have a planned view of the exam. It is like trying everything and then make an output that what suits you the most.
Here candidates need to decide that which section should be attempted first and which one to last as it is seen that instead of being well-prepared candidates could not score well because they didn’t have a strategy to follow.
2. Don't forget to take Mock Tests
Now there is not much time left to start anything new, so it would be advised to practise at least one or more than one mock test every day. while appearing for a test, of you can not score well then don’t panic and start focussing on that topic. In spite of going through the whole syllabus, just go through the topic or question that you have left or got wrong.

3. Prepare according to Exam Pattern
Time management is basically the key to be successful in any of the exams. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. So, the candidates should note that there will be not much time to waste on any question and prepare your body for the 3-hours gruelling time.
If you get stuck on any question then it would be preferable to skip that question and attempt it at last if there is some spare time. The question paper will be divided into three parts and there will be total 100 questions. Negative marking will be done only for MCQ type of questions.

4. Maintain Speed and Accuracy
The goal to score well should be “Increase speed, reduce errors”. It can be done by practising more and more question papers because reducing errors is as important as attempting a right answer. Speed should also be maintained while solving the questions because candidates cannot jump from one section to another, they have to attempt a section in specified time then only go for another. Remember the fact that speed and accuracy matter more than the number of questions attempted.
5. Revising the Strong Topics
The candidates are always in the dilemma that at this point they should start their new topics or keep revising the prepared ones. Well, the answer depends totally on your preparation. The topics that you have studied well should be revised again and again to make them your strongest points. Because starting something new can make you panicked and decrease your confidence level. So, keep revising the strong points by making short notes and writing and attempting different questions every day.
What candidates have to do one day before the CAT Exam?
One day before the exam, introducing a new topic to your brain can surely mess whatever you have learnt to date. Hence, it would be good if you will stop studying everything just one day before the exam and do the following:
- Make preparation for Tomorrow: Before going to bad, you must prepare your bag for tomorrow and keep all necessary things. Don't leave it to the next day to escape all the unfortunate.
- Relax your Mind: One day before the exam, make your mind free from all the distractions and sleep well. Don't cram your head with the topics you have not read yet. It may lead to confusion and you may end up remembering nothing.
- Brain Exercise: Those who are appearing in exam next day can solve the Rubik's cube, Sudoku and any brain teaser to sharpen their memory right before the exam
