About MOMA Post Matric Scholarship

Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme was formed to provide equal opportunity to the minority groups in the country carried out by Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), established to provide financial aid to students who belong to the minority community and from economically backward families. MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Application can be filled through the National Scholarship Portal. The application is available now for Post-Matric Scholarship 2019. MOMA Post Matric Scholars are distributed to the candidates whose family income is less than 2 lakh rupees per annum. Under MOMA Post Matric Scholarship 2019, 5 lakhs fresh scholarship will be distributed. 30% of scholarships are reserved for girls.   • Post Matric Scholarship is one of the scholarships under MOMA Scholarships.
  • Post Matric Scholarship scheme is Central Sector Scheme with 100% central funding and is implemented by the State Government, UT Administration.
  • Under the Post Matric Scholarship, the ministry will provide financial aid to the students from Class 11 (studying in government or private schools)  up to PhD level.
  • From the session 2012-13 to 2017-18, an amount of Rs. 2326.01 crore has released to benefit 42,23,730 students under the MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Scheme.

MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Details
  • The income of parents from all sources must not exceed INR of 2,00,000.
  • The scheme covers those students who have secured at least 50% marks in the previous examination. 
  • The student must be from the notified minority community in India that is Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis)

Students not eligible for Post Matric MOMA Scholarship

  • Student availing some other scholarship from other sources for the same purpose.
  • Not more than two members of the same family are entitled to the scholarship.

MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Reward

The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme 2019 will cover the full tuition fee of the course and that would directly be credited to the bank account of the school/college/ university/institution. The maintenance allowance will be given for only 10 months in an academic year and will directly be credited to the student's bank account. As for the renewals, there is no target for them. Hostellers include students who are not staying in hostel of the school/institute concerned but are staying as paying guest or in rented accommodation in towns/cities which are not the places where their parents reside.

MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Renewal 2019

  • Post Matric Scholarship Scheme has to be renewed annually. The scholarship will only be renewed given that students secure a minimum of 50% in the previous examination.
  • The last date for renewal of post-matric scholarship will be tentatively October 2019

MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Distribution

There are in all 5 Lakh Scholarship that would be distributed under MOMA Post Matric Scholarship. The number is based on Census 2011 Data. Out of this 3,68,282 scholarships is for Muslims students, 59,483 scholarship is for Christian students, 44544 scholarship for Sikh Students, 18051 scholarship for Buddhist Students, 9518 scholarships for Jain Students, 121 scholarship for Parsi Students.

The distribution of the scholarship in a state/UT will be made on the basis of the population in state/UT according to Census 2001. The selection will be made strictly on the merit basis.

MOMA Scholarship Reservation 2019

  • Reservation for girls: 30% of the scholarship will be made available to girl students, and if in case the required number of eligible girls are not available then the balance scholarships may be distributed to boy candidates. 
  • Preference: Students of BPL families will be given preference, the student with the lowest annual family income will be given importance followed by others.
  • After the scholarships are sanctioned the state/UT will publish the details of the selected students on the website of state/government/UT concerned.
