MET 2019 or Manipal Entrance Test is an online entrance test conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). The previous name of MET was MU OET. The MAHE will be conducting MET 2019 from the month of April for admission to its various UG and PG programme. For most MAHE OET 2019 programmes, the application process will start from the month of March 2019. A link to apply for MET exam will be provided on this page for the convenience of candidates. To apply for MAHE MET 2019, candidates must make sure that they fulfil the eligibility norms of the courses they are applying. The MET eligibility norms will vary with the programmes candidates are applying.

MET exam 2019 will be held for admission to the various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the various campuses located in Bangalore, Mangalore, Sikkim, Jaipur Campus and also for the International campus in Malaysia and Dubai. Applicants with at least 50% in their Class 12 board exams are eligible to apply for MAHE OET 2019 programmes. Since the MET 2019 entrance exam will be held on different dates for the UG and PG programmes, therefore the result will be announced on different dates, starting from the month of May 2019. MET 2019 - Eligibility Criteria

The Manipal Entrance Test is being helped for admission to various programmes i.e. undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Thus, each programme will have their own MET eligibility norms. Candidates are advised to go through the eligibility norms of the programmes they are applying. If a candidate fails to fulfil any of the MET eligibility norms, then they will be disqualified on or before the admission rounds.

The MET 2019 eligibility norms will vary with the category of candidates. Therefore, applicants applying under the reserved category must make sure that they fulfil the criteria as per the reservation norms. If any candidate is applying for more than one programme, then he/she must carefully go through the MET eligibility criteria 2019 of the particular programmes.

MET 2019 Application Form

As mentioned earlier, the eligibility norms of the courses offered by Manipal will vary from each other. Therefore, candidates are advised to go through the MET eligibility criteria before filling the MET application form. The MET application form will be available online and candidates are required to fill out the form on or before the end date. Only the aspirants who have filled the MET registration cum application form before the end date will be allowed to appear for the test.

The MET application form is a three-step process, which are -

  • Step 1: Filling of Basic Information such as personal details, course applied for, etc.
  • Step 2: Uploading of passport size photograph, signature and entry of academic details
  • Step 3: Payment of fee and providing complete address

Last year, the MET application fee was Rs. 600 while the entrance test fee for few programmes were Rs. 1400 only.

MET 2019 - Online Test Booking System

Manipal Online Entrance Exam is conducted in Computer Based Mode in close to 50 cities across India and students have the flexibility to choose their test centres with the help of Manipal OTBS, which gives the students an option to choose their test centre and examination date. If the student forgets to book the slot for the exam, they would be allotted any random test centre that is vacant after the slot booking. 

For MBBS the admission would be based on NEET and not MAHE OET, this is as per the directives of Honourable Supreme Court. Manipal will hold the counselling for the allotment of MBBS and BDS seats.

MET 2019 - NRI/ PIO/ International Students Admission

NRI students who are Indian Citizen, PIO Card Holders and Overseas Citizen of India can appear in MET. If they qualify for the exam, then they have to pay the regular fees that any other Indian student is paying. In case they fail to secure a seat through MAHE OET then they can also apply through Foreign/ NRI Category, and they will only be considered for admission if seats are available. There is a separate application form for General Category Students and the  Foreign/ NRI Category Students. 

MET 2019 - NRI Sponsored Admission

Student of India can apply for the NRI Sponsored Admission if their direct blood relative, i.e. Parents, direct Brother or Sister of either Parents or Candidates’ direct Brother or Sister is a Non-Resident India (NRI). However, International students, PIO card holders, OCI and NRI students (including sponsored by the parents) get preference over the NRI sponsored category, and Course/ tuition fee has to be paid in US Dollars through the sponsorer’s bank account for the full course by wire transfer only. 

NRI and Foreign Students - Manipal also offers admission to the NRI and Foreign Candidates and the application for those candidates will begin in January 2018, and the application fee is Rs. 2500. They are offered admission to 15% reserved seats in Manipal Campuses on a first come first serve basis for all courses except MBBS and BDS. Foreign citizens with PIO or OCI and Non-Resident Indians have to take NEET Exam for their admission to MBBS and BDS Courses.

MET 2019 - Course Fee

The course fee is to be paid by the candidates at the time of the admission for the one semester including the registration fee. For each of the courses offered in Manipal the admission fee, tuition fee and the fee paid in the subsequent semester is widely varied from one other. Therefore the applicants are required to check the Manipal UG Fee Structure before applying for the test.

MET 2019 - Test Centres

As mentioned earlier, MET is a computer-based test that is carried out in various cities over a period of 1 month at the designated Test Centres of Manipal. Last year the exam was held in 50 cities across India. While filling the registration form, candidates will be able to select the MET Test Centres as per their convenience. Also, along with the test centres, candidates can select the programme they wish to appear for through the Online Test Booking System or OBTS.

Every programme will have their own Manipal Entrance Test (MET) and each one will have their own date for conduct. However, for few courses like B.Design, Hotel Management, Culinary Arts course, B.sc Nursing and the admission, there will be no entrance test. The admission to such programmes will be based on Class 12 marks. Also, B.Arch admission is based on NATA and MBBS, and BDS admission is based on NEET. For most of the UG courses, there is direct entry based on Class 12 marks.

Manipal University Jaipur and Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology

For Manipal Jaipur University and Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, there is a separate admission process except for B.Tech.Admissions. There is a common MET exam for BTech for admission in all three of them which is conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

MET 2019 Exam Pattern

Manipal Entrance Test 2019 is an online computer based entrance test held for admission to the various programmes offered by the university and its other campuses. Each of the MET programme entrance test patterns will be much similar. The question booklet will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). However, the total number of questions and the duration of the test will be different.

Candidates appearing for MET 2019 are advised to check the MET exam pattern of the particular course. This will help them in understanding the structure of the question paper and the distribution of weightage of topics. Along with the test pattern, aspirants are also advised to go through the syllabus, so that they won't be wasting time on unnecessary topics. 

MET 2019 Admit Card/E- Hall Ticket

MET 2019 hall ticket would be generated 24 hours after the student has booked the Test slot through the online test booking system. If there are any discrepancies on the admit card generated after the student should bring to the notice of the Manipal University Authorities. The candidate can download MET 2019 admit card by entering their application form number (MU) and Manipal OTBS password.

 A copy of the Manipal Admit card will also be emailed to the candidate. The student has to get two printouts of the following things to the test centre.

  • E-hall ticket on A4 size paper
  • 1 Photocopy of the application form and
  • Photo ID

MET 2019 Result

The result for the MET 2019 will be declared online although the score secured by the candidate is available at the end of the exam on their computer screen. The MET Result 2019 will be announced phase wise for each course separately. The result of the Manipal entrance exam will be declared in the last week of May 2019, and it after that there will be counselling for the allotment of the seat. The scorecard will also contain the rank scored by the candidate in the MET Exam.

MET 2019 Counselling for allotment of seats

For B.Tech admission, the candidate can attend the counselling in either the Manipal Campus, Sikkim or at the Manipal University of Jaipur. For all other courses, the candidates might have to travel to respective campus. Round 1 of counselling B.Tech was held in offline mode and Round 2 and 3 in the online mode. Last year 41800 students had qualified for round 1 counselling for B.Tech.

In 1956 Manipal University was established and is now a deemed university and is located in Manipal Karnataka. The university has over 50,000 students studying in various courses. The campus at Manipal is spread across 600 acres. The university has campuses in Bangalore, Mangalore, Sikkim, Jaipur, Dubai, Malaysia and Antigua. The Medical College of Manipal University that is Kasturba Gandhi Medical College is India's First private medical college which was established in 1953 and Manipal Institute of Technology was founded in 1957. In 1993, the University was accorded the deemed status.

MET 2019 - Manipal Entrance Exam Details

MET is an online Computer-based exam for admission to Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Engineering, Medical, Humanities, Management & Communication courses in the Manipal University. Name Change of Manipal University 

After the notice issued by the Supreme Court regarding the dropping of "University" name to save the deemed to be status recognition, the UGC has ordained all the institutes to drop the University from their name. The higher education regulator issued two separate orders to 29 deemed universities. All the institutes have to send their compliance report to the higher regulator on or before 30 November 2017 (until 4:00 PM)
When the directive was issued to the Manipal University, they have been asked to drop the word university and “revert” to the names notified by the government at the time of granting of deemed-to-be status. Now the Manipal University has become Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).
