IISER Aptitude Test 2018 for IISER Admission

IISER Aptitude Test 2018 will be conducted for admission to BS & MS Programme for the students applying through State & Central Board (SCB) Category in Indian Institute of Science Education & Research. Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISER) conducts its own IISER Aptitude Test at various centres across India for the students of Science Stream according to the eligibility criteria. IISER also admits the meritorious students who have achieved a rank in JEE Advanced or the students who are KVPY fellows. IISER Aptitude Test 2018 Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates applying through State and Central Boards are required to take and qualify the IISER Aptitude Test. The candidates can apply through the SCB, KVPY and JEE Advanced for which the eligibility criteria required for each is described below. The candidates are advised to fill the IISER application form only after ensuring their eligibility.

Eligibility Criteria for SCB Channel:

  • Candidates who have passed Class 12 with Science in 2017 or 2018 are only eligible to apply.
  • Indian Nationals, the candidate belonging to Person of India Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) category are eligible to apply provided they satisfy other eligibility criteria.

  • Candidates should have secured marks above or equal to the cut-off percentage declared by Department of Science & Technology, DST

  • 5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non-Creamy layer), PD category.
  • For SC/ST candidates the cut-off is 55% in Class 12.

 Eligibility Criteria for KVPY Channel:

  • Candidates with valid KVPY fellowship commencing from the 2018-19 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut-off criteria may be applicable.

Eligibility Criteria for IIT-JEE Channel:

  • Candidates securing at least 60% marks in Class 12 and securing a place in JEE Advanced 2018 rank list for admissions to IIT’s. Additional cut-off criteria may be applicable.
  • Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2018 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000.

IISER Aptitude Test 2018 Application Process

  • Candidates can apply online only at the official admission portal for admission to Five Year BS-MS Dual Degree program offered by esteemed IISER’s.
  • Candidates through SCB Channel can apply from 24 May 2018.
  • All the seven IISERs admit students through a common application process. One application form is valid for all IISERs.
  • Candidate can take admission through all the 3 channels provided that they meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates have to fill separate IISER Application form for each channel. The detailed information about the ONLINE Mode will be updated soon as the application process has not been started yet.

IISER Aptitude Test 2018 - Application Fees

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee for each category. The application fee amount for each category is given in the table below. The candidates are advised to check the fee amount of their category and lay the application fee according to their category.

IISER Answer Key 2018

Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISER) will release the Answer Key for the aptitude test on its website. The candidates appeared in the aptitude test can check the IISER answer key below. The last year answer key is given below, this year answer key would be updated once available. Candidates are advised to keep in touch with this page to see this year answer key which will be updated shortly after the examination.

The candidates appeared in the entrance and not satisfied with the answer key uploaded by IISER can point out their objection. Such candidates may kindly send their objection using registered email. The objection will be submitted online. The candidates have to send their objection to qpcorrections@iiserpune.ac.in. The university will revise the answer key uploaded on its official website.

IISER Cut-offs for SCB Category

The cutoff list given in the table below shows the cutoff for SCB category for the last three years. The cutoff marks for the current year will be updated on this page soon. The cut-off percentages of last year may be lowered depending on the results announced by various boards before the application portal opens The criteria to find the percentage of marks is % marks = ( Total marks scored in all subjects X 100 ) / Total Maximum marks.

The above cut-off are the General category only Relaxation in the eligibility criteria for other categories are as follows:

  • OBC Non-Creamy Layer Category: 5% below the cut-off percentage
  • SC/ST/KM category: 55% for all boards
  • PD category: 5% below the cut-off percentage

IISER Aptitude Test 2018 Exam Pattern

The aptitude test will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology so a student with PCMB at Class 12 is at an advantage while appearing for IISER Aptitude test. 50% seats are filled through KVP/ JEE Channel and remaining seats on the basis of SCB stream.

The candidates have to attempt the Questions from all the four subjects given that is Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics & Biology so the candidates who have studied both Mathematics & Biology along with Physics & Chemistry are at an advantage while appearing for the IISER Aptitude Test 2018.

  • Medium of Question Paper: The question paper will be in English
  • Type of Question Paper: The questions are multiple choice and objective type.
  • Duration of exam: 180 minutes.
  • IISER Marking Scheme: 3 marks are awarded for a correct response, no marks are awarded or deducted for the unanswered question and there is a negative marking of -1 for every wrong answer.
