Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2018 is an architecture entrance exam for admission into IITs into the five years undergraduate B.Arch Course in IITs. Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) can only be taken by students who have qualified JEE Main 2018 & JEE Advanced 2018. Architecture Aptitude Test 2018 registration starts after the declaration of JEE Advanced Result and students have to give their preference for appearing in Architecture Aptitude Test 2018. Students who do not choose the option to appear for AAT while registering for JEE Advanced will not be able to appear in the exam. Architecture Aptitude Test 2018 - Details

Everything happens in a very short window for this exam. The registration for AAT starts on the same day JEE Advanced Result is announced. The application window is open or only 3-4 days. The important information for the AAT is given below.

Eligibility for Architecture Aptitude Test 2018

Only those candidates who would have given B. Arch program (available at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee) as one of their choices while filling their choices online will be eligible to write AAT.Candidates must register online at the JEE (Advanced) portal for this Aptitude Test.

AAT 2018 Admit Card Details

  • The test consists of one paper of three hours duration – from 09:00 to 12:00 hrs (IST). Question papers for the Aptitude Test will be in English only.
  • The candidates should know that an admit card is an important document to be carried at the examination hall. Download Admit Card for JEE Advanced 2018.
  • The Admit Card can be downloaded until the day of the exam. Candidates coming for the AAT are advised to bring their geometry box sets, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons for the Aptitude Test.

IIT Architecture Aptitude Test 2018 Result 

The candidates can check the Architecture Aptitude Test Result by providing their JEE Advanced Registration Number and Date of Birth. The candidates should know that they should check the registration number before clicking on the result for AAT. 

  •  AAT 2018 Result 

Candidates securing marks above the cut off (to be decided by the Joint  Implementation Committee of JEE Advanced 2018) will be declared as 'passed' for the test and put on the JEE Advanced 2018 web page.

IIT Architecture Aptitude Test 2018 Syllabus

Freehand drawing
This would comprise of simple drawing depicting the total object in its right form and proportion, surface texture, relative location and details of its parts in appropriate scale. Common domestic or day-to-day life usable objects like furniture, equipment, etc., from memory.

Geometrical drawing
Exercises in geometrical drawing containing lines, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles etc. Study of the plan (top view), elevation (front or side views) of simple solid objects like prisms, cones, cylinders, cubes, splayed surface holders, etc.

Three-dimensional perception
Understanding and appreciation of three-dimensional forms with building elements, colour, volume and orientation. Visualisation through structuring objects in memory.

Imagination and aesthetic sensitivity
Composition exercises with given elements. Context mapping. Creativity checks through the innovative uncommon test with familiar objects. The sense of colour grouping or application.

Architectural awareness
General interest and awareness of famous architectural creations – both national and
international, places and personalities (architects, designers, etc. ) in the related domain.

About Architecture Aptitude Test

Candidates desirous of joining the B. Arch. (Architecture) courses will be required to pass in an Aptitude Test to be conducted only at the seven zonal IITs (nowhere else) on the given date.The seat allotment will be done based on the category wise All India Rank in the JEE Advanced 2018.B.Arch Program is only offered at IIT Kharagpur & IIT Roorkee.
