About IOQM 2022

IOQM 2022 (The Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics) is a Mathematical Olympiad conducted in 26 regions in India and the shortlisted candidates are given chance to appear in INMO. The complete details of the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics which is commonly known as IOQM can be found here on this page. IOQM Registration has started for IMO 2023.

The students who are born between 1 August 2003 and 1 January 2010 and studying in classes 8,9,10, 11 and 12 are eligible to participate in the IOQM. The IOQM 2022 online registration was done through the registered school centres. IOQM 2022 is the first stage of the All India Mathematical Olympiad. The students who dream to represent India at International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2020 will have to take their first appearance in IOQM. Get complete details on IOQM 2022 on this page.

Class/ Age Maximum 19 years old students
  • Nationality: The students must be eligible to hold an Indian passport. Provisionally, students with OCI cards are eligible to write the IOQM subject to conditions
  • The student must not have completed (or scheduled to complete) the class 12 board examination earlier than 30 October 2022.
  • Age: The students who are born between 1 August 2003 and 1 January 2010 are only eligible to enrol for participating in IOQM 2022
  • Educational Qualification: The students who are studying in classes 8,9,10,11 and 12 in any government or recognised private school are eligible to participate.
  • The INMO 2022 Awardees are eligible to write INMO 2023 WITHOUT qualifying through IOQM provided they fulfil the eligibility criteria of IMO 2023 and EGMO 2024

IOQM 2022 Reward

Top 600 students - Top 600 in the IOQM merit list will qualify for INMO regardless of regional quota. In this pool

  • the number of class 12 students will be 100 
  • the number of class 8,9,10 and 11 students will be 500.

Region-wise selection in IOQM

From each region (including KV and JNV), a minimum of

  • 25 students (class 11 or below category) 
  • 5 students (class 12 category)
  • 3 girl students from class 11 or below category will qualify for INMO regardless of the scores provided each qualifying candidate has a score above a minimum cut-off score of 30% of the total marks of the IOQM paper

No girl student of class 12 will be selected under the girls’ quota. A girl student of class 12 can qualify for INMO from IOQM if, and only if, she is selected among the top 100 students in the class 12 category

Training: The students who qualify in INMO will be selected for 1-month training at the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) Mumbai and the students who have not qualified are awarded the ”INMO Certificate of Merit”.

Represent India - In the last, the top 6 students are finalized to represent India at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2023. The top 6 students will have a chance to avail a number of scholarships for study in the future.

IOQM 2022 Application form and Process

Eligible candidates can participate in the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) only by submitting the application form to registered school centres. The last date to apply for IOQM 2022 is 8 September 2022. The IOQM 2022 online registration form is available below.   • STEP 1: Please fill all the details in the IOQM 2022 Registration form
  • STEP 2: Submit the duly filled online registration form along with the application fee to the registered school centres.
  • STEP 3: Registered school centres will upload the student's information and submit the fee online.

IOQM 2022 Application Submission

The students can submit the registration form to registered school centres with the application fee. Further, the registered school centres will submit the data online through school log-in.

IOQM 2022 Admit Card 

IOQM 2022 Admit Card is to be available from September. Candidates who applied for IOQM 2022 Examination must carry the admit card at the exam centre. Candidates won't be able to enter the examination centre without the admit card. Candidates can click on the following link to download the IOQM 2022 Admit Card 

IOQM 2022 Selection Process

  • On the basis of the written test, the Top 300 students from classes 8, 9, 10 & 11 and Top 60 (up to) students from class 12 who qualified in a machine-correctable test will be selected to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) exam. 
  • For the KV, JNV schools, the number to be selected is up to 5 per cent from Classes 8,9,10,11 and up to 1 per cent from Class 12, of the number of registrations to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) exam.
  • Based on the RMO exam, the list of top 30 students from class 8,9, 10 &11 and top 6 students from class 12 plus the next 5 girls will be sent by each region to HBCSE. The selected students will be eligible to appear in the INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad) written test which will be held in Jan/ Feb 2020
  • On the basis of the performances of the candidates in INMO written test, top 30 students from class 8, 9, 10 & 11 and top 6 students from class 12 plus up to 5 girls will be selected for 1-month training at International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC). These qualified students will also be selected as INMO awardees.
  •  After the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp, a team of 6 students will be finalised to represent India at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2023.

IOQM Syllabus

The syllabus for the IOQM Exam is available now, The candidates must note that the difficulty of the exams increases in each stage. The syllabus is essentially required to capture the exact topics. IOQM Result 2022

IOQM result 2022 has been announced on 9 September for the exam that was conducted on 11 August. Students can check IOQM Provisional Result by entering the IOQM Roll Number as id and date of birth as password. If the students find any discrepancy in the result they can report it via email by 13 September. IOQM result 2022 for the exam that was conducted on 25 August will be declared by 20 September. After this, a combined final IOQM result 2022 will be declared along with the IOQM cut-off for all the regions.

Any student who scores at least 20% of the total marks of the IOQM paper will receive a certificate

Major Changes in the IOQM Exam 

  • From 2017, IOQM (Pre RMO) is organised at all India level by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) in coordination with NBHM. Earlier, it was being conducted zone-wise by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM). 
  • From 2017, Pre RMO is a machine-correctable test of 30 questions and each question will have an answer which is a number with one or two digits. 

Major Changes in IOQM 2022 Exam

  • If less than 300 students appear for IOQM in any region, a new clause has been added specifying that the maximum number qualifying for RMO will be up to 50
  • INMO 2022 merit certificate holders are not eligible to write IOQM/RMO. They may appear directly for INMO 2022
  • Sikkim is notified as a separate region whereas, Lakshadweep and 'Andaman & Nicobar' have been included in Kerala and Tamil Nadu regions respectively.

 Note: There are 26 regions in India. Apart from that, additionally, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are considered separate regions.
