About PMO’s Mobile App Contest

  • PMO Mobile App Contest is launched to create a mobile app for Prime Minister Office of India (PMO) in association with Google.

 Latest Update: The shortlisted Top 10 Wireframes selected in the Phase 2 of the Mobile App Development Contest has been announced and the names of the selected teams in no particular order are:

Details regarding the name of team members are mentioned toward the end.


  • For the development of Mobile Application for Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), MyGov has organised a contest and it will take suggestions frrom General Public to develop the app.
  • MyGov is a citizen engagement platform started by Government of India to increase people’s participation in the development of country’s governance.
  • PMO Mobile App contest is divided into 3 Phases:
    • Phase 1: Idea Submission (It is open to all irrespective of the knowledge of Mobile App Development)
    • Phase 2: Wireframe Development
    • Phase 3: App Development.
  • The Contest gives an opportunity to play a significant role in the development of Digital India. Be a significant part of the change by making innovative suggestions.
  • The winners of the Phase 2 will get mentoring by Google and the winners will get a sponsored trip to USA to meet the members of Google Developers.
  • The last date for the Phase 1 is March 23, 2015 by 5:00 PM IST.

  • The Contest is open to only citizens of India.
  • For Phase 1 only Individual entries are allowed.
  • For Phase 2 & 3, participation is in teams of 3-6 members.
  • Prior experience in Application Design and Development will be additional benefit.

Not eligible to participate
Close family members and employees of MyGov, NIC, DeitY or any individual or organization involved in organizing the contest.

Reward

PMO Mobile App Contest Reward

  • Phase 1 Winner
    •  The selected ideas will get an Android One device from Google
    • Certificate of appreciation from MyGov.
  • Phase 2: An opportunity to be mentored by Google for the App Development along with Certificate of appreciation from MyGov.
  • Phase 3: The final winner team will go to USA to meet a team of Google Developers on a Sponsored trip from Google.
    • Google will Sponspor the Air Tickets and the Stay of the Winners.
    • Maintenance of Mobile App: The winners will have to maintain the Mobile App  in working condition by the team for a period of 1 (one) year from the date of launch. All bugs identified should be removed by the team.

Application form and Process

PMO Mobile App Contest Application Process

  • There are 3 parts to the Contest 
    • Phase 1: Idea Submission (Individuals only)
    • Phase 2: Wireframe Development (Team Participation)
    • Phase 3: App Development. (Team Particiation)
  • Phase 1 and Phase 2 are independent of each other and individuals participating in Phase 1 may also participate in Phase 2.
  • Individuals who have not participated in Phase 1 can participate in Phase 2 as part of a Team.

For Phase 1

For phase 1 of the competition there is only individual participation. At this stage the participants only have to submit the idea and not the mobile app. The idea can be submitted in any or all of these three categories.

  • There are 3 categories for idea submission:
    • #Information: ideas about the information to be made available on the App.
    • #Interaction: ideas about methods of inter-communication between PM and Public for increased public participation.
    • #Broadcast: ideas related to the updates that any user would like to get regarding the PM or PMO.

Submission of Idea for Phase 1

  • The participants need to Register on MyGov Portal and log in to their account, open the contest page of “Suggest Innovative ideas for the PMO's Mobile App”.
  • The idea can be submitted using the proper hash tags i.e. #Broadcast, #Interaction or #Information), relevant to the category for which their idea belongs.

For Phase 2 & 3- (Wireframe & App Development)

  • There will be a common registration for Phase 2&3 and no change in team composition will be allowed once the team has been created and the names have been submitted.
  • Team Composition: A Team must have a Team Name and a Team Leader and each member of the team should give their consent for joining the team by logging into their account.
  • Only one entry can be submitted by a team, that too by the nominated Team Leader only.

Selection Process

PMO Mobile App Contest Selection Process

For Phase 1

  • PMO Mobile App Result Phase 1: The Result will be declared on MyGov Portal.
  • The selection of the ideas will be shortlisted by MyGov Team on the basis of relevance and on the audience voting.
    • Audience will have the power to exercise their votes and also share it on social media.
  • The Final selection will be done by Screening Committee formed by MyGov.  

For Phase 2

  • PMO Mobile App Result Phase 2: Out of top 10 selected wireframes based on their blueprints, design guidelines and API usage, a screening committee will shortlist top 5 teams, which will be mentored by Google for App Development.

For Phase 3

  • PMO Mobile App Result Phase 3: MyGov Jury will make the selection of the final winner app.
