About Lok Sabha Internship

Lok Sabha Internship Programme is aimed to provide an opportunity to young talent in the country with outstanding academic credentials for informing them with the working of Parliamentary democracy through Parliamentary Internship and to train them to contribute towards the generation of research inputs for members of Parliament. The last date to apply is 4 May 2018. This year, there are two internships under Lok Sabha Internship Programme. This page gives the information about both the internship programme offered by the Parliament of India. This year, the Number of Internships is provided by Lok Sabha has been risen from 25 to 50 in each internship.

  • A three months internship programme - 50 Internship Positions
  • One-month student Internship programme in the Lok Sabha Secretariat. - 50 Internship positions.

Lok Sabha Internship Eligibility Criteria

Details

Three-month Internship

  • Age: The three-month Internship is open to all Indian Citizens between the age group 21 to 30 years of age as on closing date of the application.
  • Academic Qualification: The Student must have completed a two-year Post-graduate Degree.
    • The candidates must have an outstanding academic record in Disciplines such as Social Sciences, Environment, Law, Journalism, Finance, Management, Language etc.
    • In exceptional cases, the Internship programme may allow students who are pursuing doctoral study to undergo internship.

One-Month Student Internship

  • Age: The candidate must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years as on closing date of the application.
  • Academic Qualification: The candidate should be a student pursuing graduation/post-graduation.
  • Reservation for Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC:
    • Reservation of Internship positions belonging to the categories of SC, ST, and OBC shall be made as per the extant policy.
    • Candidates belonging to the above categories should attach a requisite certificate issued by the Competent Authority in support of their claim.

Lok Sabha Internship Reward

The Lok Sabha Internship programme is offered by Parliament of India. Therefore, the stipend amount will also be offered by the Indian Parliament. The amount of emolument which will be offered to the interns is given in the table below.

Additional Facilities

  • The three months Interns will also get a sum of Rs. 10,000 meant for stationery and typing expenses may be granted as one-time expenditure during the last month of the Internship to facilitate the completion of the project.
  • The Lok Sabha Secretariat shall award a Certificate to the Interns on the successful completion of the Internship Programme.
  • It is to be noted that the Lok Sabha Secretariat will not provide any accommodation/ transport facilities to the Interns during the time of Internship.

The Application Form is common for both the One-month student Internship and three-month student Internship. The candidates are provided with the instructions below to fill the application form. Therefore, the candidates are suggested to fill the application form accordingly by following the instructions. The last to fill the Lok Sabha Internship Application form is 4 May 2018.

How to fill the Lok Sabha Internship Application Form?

The application form is to be filled in two steps which are mentioned below. The candidates are advised to follow the steps carefully so that they can handle the mistakes while filling the application form.

Registration

  • The candidates first need to register themselves on the official website by following the link provided above.
  • To register themselves, the candidates have to provide the details like Name, Email address, Mobile number etc.
  • The candidates will then receive an OTP on their registered mobile number and the candidates have to confirm the OTP in order to proceed further

Filling Up the Application Form

The candidates after registering themselves need to fill their application form in which the candidates have to fill the following details.

  • Internship Details: In this section, the candidates have to fill the internship programme for which they are opting for.
  • Correspondence Address: The candidates in this section have to fill the present address as well as the permanent address with the mention of the state.
  • Academic Qualification: In this section of filling the application form, the candidates have to fill the details of their academic qualification.
  • Upload Documents: The candidates have to upload the documents of the following while filling their form. The following documents to be uploaded:
    • Letter of Recommendation
    • Statement of Purpose
    • Age Proof Criteria
    • Photograph
    • Signature

  • Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB)
  • Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB)
  • Scanned copy of Caste Certificate (PDF-less than 5MB)
  • Scanned copy of Letter of Recommendation (PDF-less than 5MB)
  • Scanned Copy of Statement of Purpose (PDF-less than 5MB)
  • Scanned Copy of Age Proof Certificate (PDF-less than 5MB)

Important Documents to be uploaded with Application

  • Letter of Recommendation: The applicant should submit a recommendation letter from the Principal of the College/Head of the Institution she/he last attended or is enrolled in to pursue higher studies along with the completed application form.
  • Statement of Purpose: The applicant must also submit a brief statement in 250 words which should inter alia state why she/he intends to join the Internship Programme; her/his career goals; and how the Internship will help her/him in achieving those goals. An application received without the statement will not be considered

Lok Sabha Internship Application Submission

Candidates are advised to check the details of the application form and then make the final submission as the candidates need to know that once the application gets submitted, the candidates will not be able to change the details of the application form. The candidates should submit their application online only and attach the necessary documents duly scanned at the link: sri.nic.in

After the successful submission of the application form, the candidates are also advised to keep at least two printouts of the application form with them for future reference.
