About HT Scholarship

HT Scholarship Program 2018 is for the students studying in class 5-10 in Schools of Mumbai and students of class 5-9 in Pune and Chandigarh. The Hindustan Times Scholarship programme is conducted by HT Media to recognise and reward the brightest young minds. To be considered for the scholarship, the student must have scored at least 60% marks in his/her previous class and the proof of the same is to be attached to the application form. This year the Hindustan Times (HT) Scholarship Program will be conducted in Pune, Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali in addition to Mumbai. The amount of scholarship is worth Rs. 45 Lakhs will be awarded. Hindustan Times is also launching the HT Scholarship quiz contest for students to learn something new every day along with this program. To participate in the scholarship program, candidates have to fill the HT Scholarship application form which is available in both online & offline mode.

Candidates have to attach the following items along with the application form and submit it to the concerned authorities:

  • Essay as their entry
  • Previous year academic record
  • 5 HT Scholarship Quiz cutting from the newspaper

Latest Update: The quiz for HT Scholarship will appear in Hindustan Times newspaper from Monday to Friday, until 26 October 2018.

  • The topic of the essay for the HT scholarship 2018 is - Are we too dependent on our computers and mobile phones; if yes, how can we reduce the addiction?
  • The students have to write the essay up to 250 words.
  • Out of the applications received only 50 students will be selected for the award function of the scholarship. The selection of the winners will be done on the basis of their academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, essay, and personal interview.
  • The last date to complete the application process/nomination process for the scholarship is 31 March 2018. In 2015, 80,000 students applied for the scholarship program.

Details
  • Nationality:  The students of Indian nationality residing in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, Pune, Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali.
  • Academic Qualification: The applicant needs to be a student of class 5-9 and should have scored more than 60% marks in their previous class final exams.

Not eligible to participate:

  • Winners of Hindustan Times Scholarship Programme from any of the previous years are not eligible to participate.
  • Employees of Hindustan Times and its associated organizations are not eligible to participate.

HT Scholarship Reward

The scholarship amount of Rs. 45 Lakh will be awarded to 120 winners but only 50 winners invited in an award function. 

  • The winners will have to produce the following documents to claim the scholarship.
    • Identity Proof   
    • Address Proof   
    • PAN Card (of the Parent/guardian)
    • Signed copy of the terms and conditions of the Parent/guardian
  • Total 60 students will be selected from Mumbai and will be awarded by a scholarship of Rs. 50,000 each.
  • 35 students will be selected from Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali and will be awarded by a scholarship of Rs. 25,000 each.
  • 25 students will be selected from Pune and will be awarded by a scholarship of Rs. 25,000 each

Online mode

The candidates applying through offline mode need to follow the instruction given below.

Submission of HT Scholarship Application Form 2018

For Online applicants

The candidates applying online do not need to submit any hard copy to the head office of Hindustan Times. They need to submit the application form after filling the nomination form and writing an essay of 250 words.

For Offline applicants

After filling the HT Scholarship Programme Application Form 2018, the applicants need to get it endorsed by school principal/ teacher and submit it to their respective school or they can send the application form to the following addresses:

HT Scholarship Selection Process

The selection for the HT Scholarship Program 2018 will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Essay: Assessment in the essay.
  2. Academic and ECA: Participant's academic and all-around achievement.
  3. Interview by a panel of senior editors: Each eligible student's interview will be interviewed by HTML panellist.

In stage 1 selected by the team of experts- 150 students will be selected that is 30 from each class.

In stage 2 selected by senior editors- 150 students would be interviewed and 50 students would be selected.

The successful students will be intimated by HT Media Ltd.
