About Film Submission for India In A Day with Google

  • India In A Day is user generated film all about India, shoot by any resident of the nation in a single day.
  • Google is teaming up with filmmakers Ridley Scott, Richie Mehta and Anurag Kashyap to create a full-length user-generated movie called "India in a Day."
  • The participants have to shoot a video on October 10, 2015 within 24 hours of the day using any filming device. The central theme of the film video needs to be ‘How India is changing.’The videos will be edited into a documentary film, executive produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap and directed by Richie Mehta.
  • There is no reward or cash prize available but the candidates whose clips are selected will be added to the credits of the film as a "co-director" of the film.
  • The completed film will be released in 2016 and the updates regarding the same will be available on India In A Day’s website.
  • Anyone who is above 13 years of age can be a part of India In A Day and can submit their videos.

About Anurag Kashyap

  • Mr. Anurag Kashyap is a very well-known director, screenwriter, producer and actor of Bollywood famous for his realistic films.
  • He has been awarded with the title of “Chevalier dans ’Ordre des Arts et Lettres” by Governemt of France.
  • Anurag Kashyap has a record of five films in Cannes both as a director and a producer.
  • Mr. Kashyap had been a part of Jury at the 66th Venice International Film Festival, the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and jury member of the Marrakech Film Festival along with Martin Scorsese.

  • Nationality: Participation to India in a Day is open for residents of India only.
  • Age: In order to be a part of India In A Day the applicant needs to be at least 13 years of age.
    • Participants belonging to the age group of 13 to 18 years should have their parent’s or guardians written consent in order to be a part of India In A Day.

  • If the video submitted is selected for the final video, as a contributor to the final film, the name of the candidate submitting the video will be credited as a "co-director" of the film.

Film Submission for India In A Day with Google Application Process

The submission of videos for India In A Day is to be done online and the details of participation and other related things are as follow:

  • Participate: In order to be a part of India In A Day, interested candidates are required just to film their story and submit it on the India In A Day website during October 10 to October 17, 2015.
  • Filming Guidelines: The video to be made should keep the following things in mind:
    • The video needs to be made during 12:01 am to 11:59 pm on October 10, 2015.
    • Length of the video: As long as participants have all the required permissions and the video is as per the Google content standards, it can be of any length and in any language.
    • Device for Shooting the video: Interested candidates can use any device to film their video, it may be any mobile phone or camera. Candidates should use portrait mode to record their film.
      • If the device allows, candidates are required to shoot at 25 fps and at aspect ratio of 16:9.
    • Applicant should have permission from the people who he/she are shooting along with from the owner of the location where the video is being shoot.
    • No Background Music: Applicants should avoid submission of the video which have music in the background.
  • Submission of the Videos: The submission of the videos will start from October 10, 2015 till October 17, 2015 and the links and instruction for uploading the video will be available on the website.
    • Applicants can submit any number of videos.
    • Applicants are not required to submit a complete film; Richie Mehta is looking for raw footage which can be used to create a single coherent film.
    • Candidates are advised to keep the uncompressed as well as highest quality print of the video safe with them. It will be asked if the submission is selected for the final film.
