About European Union-The Hindu Centre Photography Competition

  • The European Union Delegation to India in association with The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy has launched Photography Competition MyClimateMyFuture, on the challenges posed by climate change.
  • Photos should refelect Creative but practical ideas which can be used to tackle Climate Change Challenge.This initiative is a part of the "European Climate Diplomacy Day"
  • The Photography competition provides a platform to the People of India to Click a Picture photographs which best illustrate how they feel about Climate Change. The photographs can be shots of climate change impact, challenges and solutions.
  • The four winners will be will be selected and have a chance to win a Canon EOS 700D camera, with an 18-55 mm lens and a 55-250 mm lens.
  • The photography Contest began on Wednesday June 17, 2015 and will end on September 17, 2015. The winner of the jury prize and public prize will be announced in October 2015.

Not Eligible to Apply

Employees of the EU Delegation, The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy, and their immediate families will not be eligible to participate in the competition.

  • After an evaluation process involving experts, TWO WINNERS will be selected and TWO WINNERS will be selected on the basis of No. of Votes received.

European Union-The Hindu Centre Photography Competition Application Process

  • Candidates are limited to one contest entry per campaign.
  • The photo competition allows uploading pictures taken from camera, phone or tablet.
  • Candidates who are submitting the photograph are also required to fill in the qualification Form whereas those who are voting need not fill any Qualification Form

Specifications of the Photo

  • Resolution: Minimum- 72 dpi resolution but 300 dpi is highly recommended
  • Pixels: Minimum resolution is 1024 pixels on the longer side (horizontal or vertical) but 2048 is highly recommended. Maximum resolution can go up to 9933 pixels in .jpg format.
  • File Size: File size must not exceed 5 MB
  • Candidates are allowed to Edit or manipulate the photo
  • The presentation can be manipulated in color or composition (montage, collage, retouching etc.) to differ from the original motif
  • Re-sharpening and correction is also permitted

COPYRIGHTS

  • The photo submitted by the candidate should be an original work authored by the participant.
  • Candidate has to declare and assure that
    • Material used is his/her own
    • No one else apart from the candidate has copyright or any intellectual property right on the submitted photo
    • Submitted work does not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of someone else.
  • Candidate will always remain the owner of the copyright of the submitted work.
  • The photo will be credited appropriately each time it is reproduced or communicated to the public by the European Union.
  • In case the winning photo features images of children, the photographer will be asked to send a model release form, signed by the parents or the legal guardian of the minor, giving authorisation for the use of the photo.

European Union-The Hindu Centre Photography Competition Selection Process

  • The evaluation process and selection of winners would be concluded by September 2015.
  • The three winners will be announced in October 2015

The four winners will be announced in October 2015 in two categories namely:

  • Two 'Climate Photo Prize'
  • Two 'Climate Photo Jury Prize' 

Public Prize –The owners of the top 2 photographs will be declared as the 'Climate Photo Prize' winners on the basis of the maximum number of 'likes' on a photograph.

Jury Prize – The photographs will be judged by special editorial committee, together with the photo editors. After selection, 2 photographs will be declared as the ' Climate Photo Jury Prize' winners.
