About Drucker Challenge Essay Contest

Drucker Challenge Essay Contest 2017 is started in the month of April 2017. This contest is organised by Peter Drucker Society, Europe to spread awareness among the youth and younger generation about Peter Drucker. Candidates who want to participate in Drucker Challenge Essay Contest must fill the online registration form. Peter Drucker Society has launched the 9th Edition of the Peter Drucker Essay Writing Competition. Candidates have to submit their entries on the official website of Peter Drucker Society by 15 July 2017.

About Peter Drucker:

Peter Drucker was a writer, a professor, a management consultant, and an ecologist. He had the talent of studying human nature and the way they interact with each other. He has also been awarded the title of "the man who invented management" by Businessweek. 

He had influenced many leaders from different sectors, which are General Electric, IBM, Intel, Procter & Gamble, Girl Scouts of the USA, The Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Farm Workers and several presidential administrations.

Here are just some of the questions you might address while writing the essay

  • What holds people back in today's organisations and institutions to realise their potential? What are the obstacles that you see in your environment?
  • What is the role of management to free up human potential? Give examples of management actions that have made a difference in your life.
  • Can digital technology (in particular automation and Al) spawn prosperity as opposed eliminate jobs? Give concrete examples
  • What is your perspective on how technology can enable people to co-create solutions that are good for their communities, the economy and the world?

  • Age: The applicant must be born in 1980 or later and must be of at least 18 years .i.e. between 18-35 years of age.
  • Nationality: There are no restriction on the nationality of the participants.
  • Categories: There will be two categories for participation in the Essay Contest
    • Academic: Undergraduates, Graduates, MBA, Ph.D students. 
    • Business: Managers, Entrepreneurs & Future Professionals.

Not eligible for the contest

  • People who has been selected or only once among the TOP 10 since 2010 are not eligible for the Contest.

Drucker Challenge Essay Contest Reward

The Grand Prize Winner/ 1st Prize Winner of Drucker Challenge Essay Contest 2017 will receive the Cash Prize of €1,000. First Prize winner will also receive the awards/prizes listed below.

Those candidates who got place 11 to 15 and have qualified for the second round without being selected as one of the 10 finalists, will get free access to the Global Peter Drucker Forum on Nov. 16 - 17, 2017 and your essay will be published on www.druckerchallenge.org.

The application process of Drucker Challenge Essay Contest will be conducted through online mode only. Those candidates who want to participate in this essay contest must fill the "Declaration of Interest Form". To participate in the Drucker Challenge Essay Contest 2017 the applicant has to submit the essay online. The interested candidate can simply go to the website and fill in the application form with the basic requirements and upload their Essay. Click the following link to submit the essay:

If  there is any problem in uploading the essay then the person can send their essay file and information given in the application form to essay@druckerchallenge.org

The candidates are required to fill in their contact details such as e-mail address very carefully. As the notification of being selected would be notified through an E-mail only. In case the candidate does not get the E-mail, the candidate is himself to be held responsible.

  •  Specifications of the Essay:
    • Word Limit: Between 1500-3000 words.
    • Language: English only.

Drucker Challenge Essay Contest Selection Process

The selection process is divided into three Rounds and the details of the rounds are as follow:

Round 1

  • The selection at first round will be conducted by a panel of judges who will select 15 best entries in academic and business categories.
  • The Essay would be judged on the following parameters
    • Ideas relevant to the theme
    • Conclusion drawn from the essay
    • Link the concept of essay and spirit of  Peter Drucker
    • Fluency in English
    • Originality

15 essays will be selected from each category defined above.

Round 2

  • The essays selected in round 1 will be further selected down to 10 in each category according to the selection criteria given above.

Round 3

  • By August 2017,10 essays that have been selected in each category will be evaluated by the renowned jury members and the ranks would be finalised. The Jury would also nominate the Winner of Drucker Challenge Essay Award.
  • Among them the Grand Prize Winner, the 2nd prize winner & the 3rd prize winner will be selected and people with rankings 4-10 will also be selected.          
  • The Winners will be notified by e-mail by last week of August 2017 and if they do not respond to the e-mail, then an alternate finalist would be selected.        
  • By mid- September 2017 the Final Rank list and the Essays of the Finalists will be published on druckerchallenge.org and after that in Drucker Society Europe Newsletter.
