About Asia-Europe Foundation Photo Contest

  • On the Go Photo Competition has been launched by The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) to give the photographers across the world a golden chance to participate.  The participants have to submit their on-the-go shots, taken in Asia or Europe. It is open to emerging and professional photographers from ASEM Countries.
  • This competition is to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM)
  • THEMES: There theme for the photography competition
    • Motion and the pace of life in Asia and Europe, illustrating those moments where we are different — and yet so alike.
  • The photographers have to come out with the pictures that clearly depict the perspectives of seeing the differences and similarities between Asia and Europe by showing people and scenes in motion, captured in everyday situations in Asia or Europe.
  • 2 winners will be selected by a distinguished international jury and 1 additional winner will be chosen by online voting.
  • An exhibition will be held of all awarded works in association with  the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers' Meeting (ASEM FMM12) November 4, 2015 in Luxembourg

  • Candidates should belong to ASEM Countries.
  • Candidates should be an emerging or a professional photographers.

Not Eligible to participate

Employees or those associated with ASEF and employees of LASALLE College of the Arts are ineligible to apply

Asia-Europe Foundation Photo Contest Reward

  • First Prize: Two First Prizes will be awarded.
  • Audience Prize will be awarded to the photography submission that receives most online votes.
  • No participant will win more than one prize

Other Benefits

  • The exhibition’s content of 23 photographs will be sourced through an online photo competition, which will run on the ASEF website
  • Exhibition Space: Winning entries and a further selection of 20 photos will be showcased in an exhibition alongside the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM) in November in Luxembourg.
  • Photobook: Photos shortlisted for the exhibition and a further selection of 30 photos will be published in a photo book.

Asia-Europe Foundation Photo Contest Application Process

Candidates have to fill in the Online Application Form. Only Online Entries will be eligible. Submitting a Photo is free of any charge.

Kindly Note: Candidates have to submit a Photo in a Digital Format. No print or video submissions will be accepted. 

  • A maximum of 3 photos are allowed per participant.

Specifications of the Photo

  • Size: All digital files must be 20 megabytes or smaller
  • Format: JPEG or .jpg format
  • Pixels: 2,000 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 2,000 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
  • Resolution: Minimum resolution of 300 DPI is required
  • Standard Colour Space: sRGB

Submission of the Photo

As already discussed above, the Photo has to be submitted ONLINE ONLY.

  • Each photograph must be accompanied with a caption.
  • The caption must be complete and accurate, sufficient to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken.
  • Caption must be in ENGLISH

Asia-Europe Foundation Photo Contest Selection Process

Judging process will be conducted in two stages:

Stage 1: Out of all the entries received, 100 entries will be shortlisted on the basis of the below mentioned points:

  • Creativity: 50%
  • Photographic quality: 50%

Stage 2: After the first round of judging, all entries will be posted onto www.asef.org/onthego.

The judges will then select a winner for each prize level.

Winners will be chosen in late September and will be notified by email.

VOTING PROCESS

  • All work that has been submitted and made public will be subject to online voting by the audience.
  • All persons are eligible to vote for the audience award. Everyone is limited to 1 vote.

RESULTS

  • Results of the competition are expected to be declared in the month of October, 2015.
  • Decisions of the Judges are final and binding
