UP Board Exams will now be conducted under CCTV Surveillance as the Uttar Pradesh government has issued the direction that the students appearing in the board exams will have to now write the exams under the CCTV which will bar the students from cheating during the exams. The Uttar Pradesh government issued a direction on 14 October 2017 to all government schools to install CCTVs by the end of December 2017. If the students caught cheating during the exam, they might be expelled from the board exam.
The cameras have to be installed before 16 March 2018.

What Government Official Says
Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar said that the main objective of the move is to ensure copying-free board exams which have to be held across the Uttar Pradesh state. The chief secretary said that the government is committed to bringing improvement in the quality of education in the schools and a better plan should be made in the next 10 years. While directing to the schools across the state, he also made a statement that teacher-parents meetings should be held on a regular basis so that the guardian/ parents of the students can know the progress of their children.
In 2014 the district inspector of school (DIOS) had directed the private and government schools to set up CCTV cameras and biometric system from the 2015 academic session onwards. The private schools had followed the rule while government schools did not.

- The Board Syllabus would be based on NCERT to bring the UP Board schools at par with schools affiliated to CBSE board.
- The Board exams will be finished within a month.
- Strict action would be taken to curb cheating in the board exam.
- Parent Teacher meeting should be held regularly so that parents know the education progression of their children.
- Five Flying Squads have been formed to prevent cheating.
- Under Section 144 of the Criminal procedure code (CrPC), the UP govt. hasrestricted the use of mobile phones and photocopy machines within 200 metres of examination centres.
The mass cheating cases have been reported earlier at various centres in Uttar Pradesh. The recent case was Mass cheating at a Ballia school during Class 10 Mathematics exam of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Board examinations. Reports also suggest that there are Nakal Mafias in the state. Right action can stop the menace of cheating in the state.
UP Exam Centre Policy 2018
The schools will give the data about the infrastructure available in their schools and the exam centre allocation would be done through the online system through a specially designed software. Priority would be given to those schools which have CCTV installed at the entrance as well as in the classrooms.
