Rhodes Scholarship Result 2017
Rhodes Scholarship Result 2017 is out now and the five Indian students have made India proud by registering their names in this scholarship. The name of the Indian students who bagged this prestigious scholarship is given below:

Vanshaj Ravi Jain a final year BA LLB student from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has snared the prestigious Rhodes scholarship for 2017. He will now be heading to the University of Oxford to study international criminal law. Along with him, five more Indian students won the desiderata scholarship.
According to the reports, “Vanshaj Ravi Jain developed a keen interest in international criminal law. He was a finalist at the ICC (International Criminal Court) Moot competition at Haque and has also published an article in the prestigious Columbia Journal of Transnational Law on the topic of prosecuting ISIS terrorist at international law courts.”

What is a Rhodes scholarship?
The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting extraordinary brilliant students from all around the world to study at the University of Oxford. The scholarship covers all the university and college fees, a personal stipend and one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the scholarship, as well as an economy flight back to the student's home country at the conclusion of the scholarship.
How the students get selected for the Rhodes scholarship?
In the selection criteria of Rhodes scholarship, it is specifically mentioned that the truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy and protection of the weak etc. are the most important quality to get the Rhodes scholarship. Selection in each Rhodes constituency is by committees. In general, committees will select applicants of outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service.
What Vanshaj has to say on his winning of prestigious Rhodes scholarship?
Vanshaj said that “I will soon be travelling to Georgia for the Jean-Pictet Competition of International Humanitarian Law. It's a week-long program and involves activities like interview victims and other practical exercises.”The scholarship is tremendously important in that I'd get to spend 2-3 years studying international criminal law, a field no Indian has broken into.” he added
