Private Medical College in Uttarakhand has hiked MBBS, MD fees by almost 4 times of the current fees. A protest has been conducted by the huge number of Medical Students in Uttarakhand after a shocking decision taken by state Cabinet. The Uttarakhand Cabinet has decided to free their hands from the fee structure of all three state private medical colleges and let them decide their own fees. The effect of this unfair decision is that one of the three private medical colleges in Uttarakhand has decided to increase their undergraduate and post-graduate course. The fee for the undergraduate course has been hiked up to Rs.19.76 lakhs which earlier was Rs. 5 lakhs.

What Students have to say about the Hiked Fees?
A first-year MBBS Student of “Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Science” said that majority of medical students had to opt for student loans to pay the fee. They paid Rs 5 Lakh for the first year and now college is asking them to pay the revised fee which is more than 20 Lakh for the second year. College also asked to pay an additional amount of Rs 15 Lakh to match the new fee of Rs 19.76 Lakh for the first year. Students can’t afford to pay this increased amount of fee.
