Parents are increasingly building the perception that it is the CBSE curriculum that is preparing their kids for the competitive examinations.

South Point High School principal Rupa Sanyal Bhattacharjee claimed that what is more important than the board is what is being taught to the students. Parents tend to opt for regional boards if they feel that their child has a good scope of getting through a regional competitive exam. The syllabus is encouraging people to take up CBSE however, the syllabus is exactly the same for higher secondary science. She also felt the out-reaching perspective that an all India board will help in admissions is also prevalent.

CBSE’s new assessment pattern is making an impact as suggested by the Umeed director Saloni Priya. Based on the exam pattern of JEE and others, the curriculum is designed whereas the state board is localized. Both of the boards, ICSE and CBSE tend to impart more knowledge to students was said by the Career Counsellor of Heritage School, Sudakshina Dasgupta.

It is also being suggested that the number of students taking up international curriculum is also increasing. CBSE is still trying to align itself with the curriculum of IB as suggested by Anushree Ghosh, Principal of Delhi Public School, Ruby Park.
