DU Admission Process to go Completely Online from this Academic Year
The 24 member committee, a body established under the Delhi University has recommended that the applications for DU admission should completely go online. The committee comprises deans from the faculty of Arts, Science, and Commerce and they have decided to formulate a student friendly admission policy. Until last year both the online and offline admission process were open, the students could fill the applications through the OMR application form as well.
In the last academic session, the Constituent Board of the Delhi University decided to make the application process online; however, due to concern from the parents and a small litmus test by the university to assess its efficiency had stalled the process to go completely online.
The online application system would completely make the admission process simple and the candidates would be able to make direct payment to the Delhi University and the amount would be apportioned back to the respective colleges as per the counselling. The University Grants Commission has also given a go-ahead on this.
Lesser Number of Cut-off Lists
The university’s simplification pursuits in giving the best service to the students in terms of the application process have been rightfully justified by the likely plan to go online from the next academic year and the committee has also suggested reducing the number of cut-off lists. Earlier the numbers of cut-off lists were somewhere around 7-10 but from this year, it is expected to have lesser number of Cutoff Lists. The Dean of Student welfare committee has planned to reduce the cut-off lists to 5. The decision has been taken to smoothen the admission process and to ensure that academic session begins from August,
As per the statistics available from Delhi University, every year some 54,000 students are admitted to its various UG programmes across 60 colleges and they are given international standard course curriculum in different streams.
