Manipal Counselling 2018 will start from 28 May and will continue until the last week of July 2018 for admission to various courses in Manipal University. This page has the information about Manipal Counselling for the following courses. The first round, intra-institute sliding and spot round is physical rounds whereas rest of the rounds is online counselling. Manipal Counselling 2018 will be held for the given two streams:

Manipal Counselling 2018 - Participating Institutes

Manipal Counselling will start from the first week of June 2018 which will last until last week of July 2018. The B.Tech common counselling would be conducted for the admission to the following institutions. There are total three branches where the counselling get conducted for the admission in Manipal University. B Tech Common counselling is conducted for admission to the following Institutions.

  • Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal
  • Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim
  • Manipal University Jaipur

The registration process for the new registrants: Candidates who wish to participate in the counselling are required to register online. The registration process involves three steps; viz. filling the registration form, payment of registration fee, choice filling and locking. To register for counselling, visit our website www.counseling.manipal.edu and login to the candidate’s portal.

Candidates are advised to carefully choose their institutes and branches, as there is no provision of fee refund if one decides not to join the allotted institute. The fee collected will not be refunded if the seat is allocated to a candidate. However, if a candidate is not allotted a seat, then the fee collected will be refunded fully.

Filling Registration Form and Payment of Registration Form

  • There are a few fields which can’t be edited by the candidates, such as, Application no., rank, name, date of birth, etc.
  • Enter 10+2 Board in which the candidate has appeared, such as CBSE, ICSE, State Board and others. If it is a State Board, enter the name of the State Board.
  • The candidates are required to send the attested scanned copies of all the documents mentioned in the list of documents.
  • If you want to proceed to the next step, press “SAVE/UPDATE”.
  • The candidates who are participating in the counselling for the first time have to pay the registration fee of Rs 11,000 (bank transaction charges as applicable to be paid additionally). The following modes of payment are available:
    • Credit card/Debit card
    • Internet banking
  • After successful payment of registration fee, the candidates will be permitted to fill the choices.

Manipal B.Tech Counselling Schedule

There will be seven rounds of counselling, including one intra-institute sliding and one spot round the first round, intra-institute sliding and spot round is physical rounds whereas rest of the rounds will be conducted online. The counselling would be based on MU OET Score.

First round of counselling (May 25 - 6 June 2018) - Physical round

The candidates have the facility to attend the counselling at either MIT Manipal, Manipal University Jaipur or Sikkim Manipal University. It will be a joint counselling for allotment of B.Tech Seats. 

  • Registration - Candidate should fill the registration form
  • Document Verification - Candidate should produce the original documents for verification along with one set of photocopies. The documents will be given back to the candidates after the verification is done.
  • Seat Allotment – Seat will be allotted in the order of merit as per MUOET 2018 and subject to availability of seats.
  • Waitlist –The following candidates are eligible for waitlist
    • Candidates who have taken a seat and wish to participate in the second round of  counselling
    • Candidates who have already registered, but haven’t got the seat in the first round.

All candidates should bring two separate demand drafts for Rs. 2,85,000 and Rs. 10,000(Registration fee – Rs. 10,000) respectively drawn in favour of ‘Manipal University’ payable at Manipal or Udupi. Demand Drafts drawn in favour of Manipal University Jaipur or Sikkim Manipal University will not be accepted.

Second, Third and Fourth Round of Counselling  (25 June -  19 July) – Online

  • Candidates who have taken the seat and want to participate in the next round. (These candidates can modify their choices).
  • Candidates who have not taken any seat and opted for wait-listing in the next rounds of counselling.
  • Candidates can fill/modify their choices and the order of their preferences by log into the candidate’s portal visiting www.counseling.manipal.edu (Use application number as login ID and OTBS password as a password).
  • If a candidate fails to lock his/her choices within the stipulated time explicitly, his/her last saved choices will be automatically locked after the deadline.

The fifth round of seat allotment (21 to 27 July) - Online

Eligibility Criteria for the 5th round of counselling:

  • Candidates who have not registered in any of the previous rounds, i.e. they are participating in the counselling for the first time.
  • Other allotted candidates can still modify their choices in this round.
  • Candidates who have registered and are not allotted any seat till the fourth round of Counselling.

Seat allotment through Online Counselling

Seats will be allotted in the order of merit as per MUOET 2018 and on the basis of the locked choices subject to availability of seats. Candidates can check the allotment status of online counselling by logging into the candidate’s portal by using their application number as login ID and OTBS as password which is provided at the time of online test booking system.

  • If the seat is allotted, candidates will receive an email giving the details of the allotment.
  • If the seat is allotted through online counselling for the first time, the candidates have to pay the balance course fees of Rs. 2,85,000 by
    • Preferably RTGS (IFSC Code 0000072) as it enables early confirmation of the payment made.
    • Or by depositing the amount to the ICICI A/c no. 007201000089.

Fill in the UTR details (Name of the Account Holder, Account Number, IFSC Code, Bank Name and Bank address) in the candidate portal in case of RTGS mode.

Or in the case of bank deposit Email to btech.counseling@manipal.edu / faxed to 0820-2571982, the Deposit slip mentioning application number on or before the last date as mentioned above.

Download Provisional Admission Order

The candidate can then download the Provisional Admission Order from the candidate portal.

  • If the candidates are satisfied with the allotted seats and do not want to opt for counselling for further rounds they can click on ‘Opt-Out Button’ in candidate’s portal. It is a mandatory step if the candidates want to fix their seat.
  • If the candidate wants to participate in the next round of counselling, he/she can log in to the candidates’ portal and modify the choices, and click on SAVE/UPDATE button.
  • Candidates cannot retain previously allotted seats if they proceed to next round of counselling.
  • However, if the candidate fails to get a seat till the fifth round seat allotment, then he/she will be eligible for spot round only.

Intra Institute sliding

  • After five rounds of counselling, if a vacancy exists, the intra-institute sliding will be conducted for the candidates who have already joined the Institute.
  • In intra-institute sliding, the up gradation is possible only in the institute where the candidate has joined. i.e. there is no possibility of shifting the campus.
  • Those who want to participate in the intra-institute sliding, have to physically report to the seat allotment centre of the respective institute.
  • The seat will be allotted to the candidates as per their choice, MUOET rank and vacancy.

Spot round seat allotment (Physical Round)

  • The vacant seat, if any, after the intra-institute sliding will be filled in the spot round.
  • All the candidates who wish to participate in the spot round shall physically report to one of the counselling centres (Manipal, Jaipur or Sikkim campus) on the day of spot round at 9:00 AM.
  • The candidates should submit the documents along with a demand draft of Rs 2,95,000 in favour of “Manipal University”, payable at Manipal or Udupi, before the registration for spot round. Those who have already paid the registration fee may submit a demand draft for the balance amount.
  • Eligible candidates who have submitted all the documents and paid the fee will be permitted to register for spot round, and the seat will be allotted as per the MUOET rank, their choice and availability of seats.

Note: If there are any vacancies after the spot round, those seats will be filled based on JEE (Main) rank. Eligible candidates may report to one of the counselling centres on the day of spot round.

Documents required on Manipal Counselling Day 2018

The candidates have to carry all these documents along with one set of photocopy of all the documents

  • MU OET Admit Card
  • Class 10 Scorecard for proof of date of birth
  • Class 12 Score Card 
  • Conduct and Character Certificate obtained on the School/College letter head/pad. No other certificate instead of this will be accepted
  • Transfer certificate or School/College Leaving Certificate issued by the School/College. No other certificate instead of this will be accepted
  • Four recent and identical passport size photographs and one stamp size photograph
  • Demand Draft for fees As applicable for the programme
  • Copy of PAN card of the parent
  • Authorization letter if the representative is attending on behalf of a candidate

Manipal Counselling 2018 - Reporting Centres

The counselling process will be held at the Manipal, Sikkim and Jaipur centres. Therefore, the candidates are required to report to any one of the counselling centres as per the counselling schedule. The first round of counselling will be held at three centres i.e. Manipal, Sikkim and Jaipur. The campus addresses are given below.
