About BARC Recruitment 2018

BARC Recruitment 2018- Recruitment for OCES (One-year Training Program for Engineering Graduates or Science Postgraduates) and DGFS (DAE Graduate Fellowships) has been announced, the candidate can see the complete detail includes criteria, how to apply, online form, test related information down below. BARC Recruitment 2018 will be conducted for two categories i.e. for trainee scientific officers and DGFS Fellowships and the online application form is available from 1 January 2018.

Bhabha Atomic Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is Indian Premier Nuclear research facilitated place which researched on nuclear science, engineering, and related areas. Through BARC Training Schools, the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) recruits scientist officers annually. DAE is established in 1954, to empower India by using the technology for the creation of wealth leading to being a better quality of life for her citizens.

  • OCES - Trainee Scientific Officer (TSO) - One Year training program for engineering graduates and Science Graduates with the monthly stipend of Rs 35,000 and a one-time book allowance of Rs 10,000. 
  • DGFS - DGFS Fellows Under this scheme the engineering graduates or physics graduates who have secured MTech/Mchem Engineering admission in 2018 in the any of the listed below institutions. If selected for DAE graduate Scholarship, candidates will be paid the stipend of Rs 35,000 Per Month with Rs 10,000 Book Allowance and a contingency grant of Rs 25,000 for MTech project-related expenses.

Academic Eligibility:  Candidate has to meet the following criteria in order to apply for OCES and DGFS. Engineering Graduates must have a minimum of 60% aggregate and Science Postgraduates must also secure a minimum of 60% aggregate in BSc.  The list of eligible disciplines is given below.

  • For Engineering Disciplines 
    • BE, BTech, BSc- (Engineering), 5-Year Integrated MTech in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical/  Materials Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science/ Computer Engineering, Nuclear Engineering/ Nuclear Technology/ Nuclear Science & Technology.
  • For Science Disciplines
    • MSc in Physics, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Bioscience, Geophysics, and Applied Geophysics. 
    • MSc/ equivalent MTech in Geology, Applied Geology, Applied Geochemistry, 5-year Integrated MTech in Geological Technology, Geophysical Technology.
    • BE/ BTech in Engineering Physics or BE/ BTech/ BSc (Tech) in Food Technology.

Candidate can click on the link given below to apply for OCES/ DGFE Fellowships, There is a common application process for both of the courses, the complete process of form filling in details are also given below, the candidate is advised to fill all the information carefully and adequately as once he/she clicks on the final submission, it is inevitable.

STEP 1: Click on the above link and fill the registration form with basic details, therefore candidate’s account will be created and activated by clicking on the link send in email id or the OTP send to the mobile number. Followings are the details Candidate has to fill in this section.

STEP 2 : Once Account is created, Candidate can log in anytime to fill the rest of the information which is in the followings order.

  • Personal Information- After registration and account activation, the candidate can log in with the registered email id and password and fill the personal details like category, address etc. and also upload signature and photo.
  • Academic Information- Candidate has to fill his academic details like class 10, class 12, relevant degree details and additional details if applicable.
  • Screening information- In this section, the candidate has to choose the method of screening through he wants to be considered:
    • a) Online Examination: candidate can choose the examination centres.
    • b) GATE Score: Candidate who wants to be considered on the basis of GATE scores, are eligible to upload GATE score of 2017 or 2018, in case of GATE score 2018, the last date to upload score is 2 April 2018.
  • Payment- Candidates who have completed the above process so far now has to make payment online, the payment can be made only through SBI Payment Gateway. The candidate who is exempted from paying fees can move directly to the next step.

STEP 3: Filling all the information and clicking on Final Confirmation, a registration number will be generated, which will be used in future correspondence. The candidate is advised to remember it.

  • Final Confirmation*- After filling all details and completes the payment process, the candidate has to click on the final confirmation to complete the application process. A registration number will be generated which are advised to keep/ remember. After clicking on the final confirmation, the information is inevitable. Candidate can also print his/her application.

*Please keep in mind; candidate can only edit their information before clicking on the final confirmation.

Submission of Application Form

After completing the online application form, the candidate need not send any documents or fee further.  All the details will be filled in the online application form and payment will also be made online only through SBI Payment Gateway. It is important that candidate has filled all the information correctly and adequately and it is editable before clicking on the final submission after that information is inevitable. A unique registration will be generated after clicking on the final confirmation which is an important thing to keep for future correspondence.

BARC Admit Card 2018 (OCES/DGFS)

The candidate who chooses online examination in screening method can download the admit card from 9 March 2018. By the time of examination, the candidate has to preserve the admit card and also brings the followings documents given below.

  • A Valid Photo Id card ( passport/driving license, aadhar/ voter’s card, identity card issued by the candidate’s college)
  • Original class 10 or equivalent mark sheets
  • The candidate who is taking advantage of exempting form fee has to bring the valid proof for verification purpose at the examination centres.

BARC Recruitment 2018 Result and Counselling

The result of the first stage will be out in April 2018. Shortlisted candidates through GATE scores or online examination will be called for interview. The interview will be held in Mumbai (in all disciplines except geology and geophysics) and Hyderabad (in geology and geophysics). Shortlisted candidate will be informed via registered mobile number or email id about the interview slot selection in April 2018, and also upload on the website. Candidate can select the slot of the interview. The Interview will be held in May-June 2018.

The selection for the DGFS and OCES will be conducted in two stages. The students will be shortlisted on the basis of the scores in each of the stages the two screening stages are 

  • Online Screening Test: It will be conducted in all of the nine Engineering disciplines and in the five Science disciplines at more than forty cities spread across India
  • GATE Score: Candidates will be screened in for Selection Interview on the basis of a valid GATE-2017 or GATE-2018 Score. Cut-off GATE scores for screening into Selection Interviews will be decided only after the Online Test has concluded and candidates are therefore advised to maximize their chances of being screened into the Selection Interview stage by availing both of the screening avenues detailed above. Screening in of applicants in Nuclear Engineering will be only through the Online Test.

BARC Recruitment 2018 Exam pattern

  • Mode of exam: Online (candidate has to sit in front of the computer and answer via clicking on the options given)
  • Type & Number of questions: Objective type & 100 (Questions)
  • Time of the exam: 2 Hours (120 minutes)
  • Negative Marking: Yes (-1 on each wrong answer)
  • Language of the exam: English

Syllabus: Question will be specific to the engineering disciplines selected by the candidate. The importance will be given to the questions of knowledge and problem-solving ability.  Questions from general knowledge, general awareness and aptitude are not included.

Note: Candidate can bring pen for rough work and a sheet will be provided if required. The interactive demo of online exam will be available shortly on the website.

BARC Recruitment 2018 Important details

BARC Recruitment 2018 provides two training schemes namely Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates & Science Postgraduates (OCES) and DAE Graduates Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Postgraduates to the deserving candidates for research in nuclear science, engineering, physics, chemistry, biosciences, geology and geophysics. After succeeded in training candidate will be absorbed as Scientist Officers in a Group-A post of the Government of India.

Candidates applying for OCES/DGFS-2018 may also be considered for direct recruitment in Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. (ECIL). Such candidates will be governed by stipendiary norms of ECIL and terms and service conditions of ECIL on absorption. A merit list created out of the Selection Interview Marks may also be used to offer admission to M.Sc. (Engg.) / PhD or Diploma in Radiological Physics programs of BARC under the aegis of HBNI in the academic year 2018-19. Students admitted to the M.Sc. (Engg.) / PhD program will be paid a Fellowship / Stipend for the duration of their academic program. No permanent employment with DAE is assured to such Research Fellows.

: It is an Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates. Trainee Candidates in OCES who scores 50% aggregate in one-year training course will be considered passed and has the opportunity to be the part of the following listed below DAE units in India. Training Scientist Officers who succeeded to complete the one-year training with minimum eligibility criteria are allowed to enroll for M.Tech./M.Phil in Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI).

On the succession of the course, the candidate will be appointed in DAE as Scientific Officer.
