About PGCET 2018 Karnataka

PGCET 2018 Karnataka – Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will conduct Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) for admission to MBA, MCA, ME, M Tech, M.Arch courses for the academic session 2018-19. PGCET Karnataka is a gateway to admission in the courses offered by government and private institutions located in Karnataka state. The candidates wishing to appear in the PGCET Karnataka 2018 - KEA must ensure that they are eligible to apply. The candidates who have successfully submitted the PGCET application form will be able to download their Karnataka PGCET Admit Card 2018 by 12 July 2018 for the entrance examination which will be conducted 14 and 15 July 2018. PGCET 2018 is conducted for the admission to the 1st year/1st semester full time/part time MBA/MCA/M.E./M.Tech./M. Arch courses and for admission to 2nd year Lateral Entry to MCA Course in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided professional educational institutions in the state of Karnataka which will be notified by the Government of Karnataka for the year 2018-19. PGCET 2018 Karnataka Eligibility criteria

Eligibility Criteria for PGCET Full-Time MBA 

The candidates who are passed bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of 3 years duration in any subjects including language in each year with minimum 50% marks (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) are eligible to apply for Full-time MBA admission through PGCET 2018 Karnataka.

Eligibility Criteria for Part-Time PGCET MBA 

The candidates who are passed bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of 3 years duration in any stream including language in each year with minimum 50% marks (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) are eligible to apply for Full-time MBA admission through PGCET 2018 Karnataka. The candidate who wants to apply for admission in part-time MBA program must work for not less than three years as on 31 July 2018 after obtaining the degree.

Eligibility Criteria for PGCET MCA:

There are No Part Time courses offered for MBA. The candidates passed in graduation or equivalent examination with Computer Science or Computer Programming or Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects with not less than 50% (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) marks are eligible to apply for MCA admission through PGCET 2018 Karnataka.

  • Lateral Entry 2nd Year MCA Course: A candidate who has passed recognised Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination in BCA, B.Sc (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) (Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates)

Eligibility Criteria for M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch:

The candidates wish to apply for M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch admission through PGCET 2018 exam must have passed in qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed with minimum 50% marks (45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates).

  • For Full-Time M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch Course: Followed by the above-given eligibility, the candidates must have a valid GATE Score Card.
  • For Part-Time M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch courses: In addition to this candidate after obtaining the complete degree, must have worked for not less than three years as on 31st July 2017, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission. However, the employer has to fill up the NOC duly signed by the competent authority.

PGCET 2018 Karnataka Application form and Admit Card

The eligible candidates who wish to get admission in their desired program through PGCET 2018 Karnataka have to first submit an application form. The PGCET 2018 application form can be filled only through online mode on the official website of Karnataka Examination Authority at (kea.kar.nic.in) and the candidates can also fill and submit the application form on this page. To submit the online application form, the candidates have to follow the instructions given below:

  • STEP 1: The candidates have to visit the official website directly or through the link given on this page and click the option PGCET Online Application.
  • STEP 2: Now the candidates have to register themselves by entering all the requisite details asked in there.
  • STEP 3: On completion of registration process, the candidates will receive an Application number and User-ID on their registered mobile number and email.
  • STEP 4: Now, the candidates have to log in using the same user id and password and have to fill the application form.
  • STEP 5: The candidates have to provide all information required in the online application form and have to click save button.
  • STEP 6: The candidates have to now upload a scanned image of their recent passport size colour photograph, signature and left-hand thumb impression.
  • STEP 7: After filling the online application form, the candidates are required to make payment of the application fee through bank challan latest by the 1st week of June 2018.

Application Submission


The candidates wish to get admission in their desired program through PGCET exam will have to first submit an application form through online mode only. After filling the application form and making payment of application fee, the candidates have to take a print out of it and obtain the Principal seal and signature and send it via post. The last date for the submission of the application form is 1st week of June 2018.

The candidates who have applied successfully to appear in the PGCET 2018 Karnataka exam will only be able to download the PGCET 2018 Karnataka Admit card. The candidates can download their admit card from the last week of June 2018. To download PGCET 2018 Karnataka Admit card, the candidates have to enter their application number and date of birth.

PGCET 2018 Karnataka Result and Counselling

The candidates are selected for admission to their program on the basis of their scores obtained in PGCET 2018 Karnataka entrance exam. Based on performance in PGCET 2018 exam, the examination conducting body KEA will announce the result in the 3rd week of August 2018. The candidates who have successfully submitted an online application form will have to appear in the PGCET entrance test which is scheduled to be held in the 1st week of July 2018. On the basis of PGCET 2018 Karnataka result, conducting body KEA will conduct counselling process for admission in the programs the candidates applied for. KEA will announce the names of the selected candidates for counselling through a merit list which will be seen by following the link given below.

At the time of counselling, the candidates have to bring the following original documents along with a set of photocopies for verification:

  • Applicant’s copy of the e-challan
  • Mark sheet for all semesters of the qualifying degree
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets

PGCET 2018 Karnataka Exam pattern

The candidates appearing in the examination of Karnataka PGCET 2018 which will be held in the 1st week of July 2018 will have to take the entrance examination by following the exam pattern given below:

  • Duration of the Exam: 2:30 hrs.
  • Mode of Examination: Pen and paper-based offline mode
  • Total sections: 2
  • Type of questions: Objective and subjective type
  • Total number of questions: 75
  • Marking scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer of MCQ and 2 marks for each correct answer of subjective type questions.
  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking
