About TISSNET

TISSNET 2019 - Tata Institute of Social Science National Entrance Test (TISSNET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted for the MA admission. It is conducted by Tata Institute of Social Science to provide admission at TISS Mumbai, Guwahati campus, Hyderabad campus, Tujlapur campus, The Banyan Chennai, MHAT Chennai and G-SET, Ranchi. TISS offers around 55 Master Degree Programs. The campus wise list of TISS Courses is given below. The application form for TISSNET 2019 will be available from the fourth week of October 2018. TISS has its own National Eligibility Test (NET) which is a computer-based test to be conducted in around 39 Centres all over in India. 

TISS MBA – TISS Mumbai has established School of Management and Labour Studies and it offers three MA programs for management. TISS do not provide any MBA Program but its MA Courses are considered equivalent to MBA. For placements to these programs in TISS, there are same companies that visit other MBA Schools and also provide similar placement packages to these students. The TISS Management Programs are:

  • MA in Human Resource and Labour Management (HRM & HR) 
  • MA in Social Entrepreneurship
  • MA in Globalisation and Labour

Latest Update: The TISS Application Form can be filled by the aspirants from the fourth week of October 2018.

Note: It is vital to note that CAT / MAT/ CET / GRE/ GMAT Scores are not accepted for TISS Admission.

TISSNET Eligibility criteria

  • The candidates must have a minimum 3 years duration graduation degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study) from a recognised university.
  • The candidates who are appearing in final year of their 3 yeas degree program must have passed in all the subjects till the fourth semester and the candidates who are pursuing 4 years degree program must have passed in all the subjects till the Sixth Semester.
  • The candidates will have to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree exam by 2 June 2019 to apply for TISSNET 2019.
  • Only those candidates are eligible to apply who have done graduation through correspondence from Institute/ University or Colleges which are recognised by UGC / AICTE.
  • The admission of the candidates to any TISS MA Program will be provisional till they submit their final examination result. If they fail to submit their result by the prescribed date, their provisional admission will get cancelled.

TISSNET Application form and Admit Card

The candidates will have to fill the TISSNET 2018 Application form in online mode. However, there is also a facility to submit the application form in offline mode for the candidates who belong to the remote areas. The candidates have the choice to apply for a maximum of 3 programs in two campuses in the same application form.

Steps to Apply for TISNET 2019

Step – 1: The candidates have to visit the official website and click on the link to apply for TISSNET 2019. Step – 2: After that, they will have to register by providing the email address.

Step – 3: Then, after login, they fill the application form by entering their basic details including personal, academic, program selection, centre, contact details etc.  

Step – 4: Once filing up the details, they have to upload the required documents and then pay the required application fee.

Documents to be uploaded with TISSNET Application Form

The candidates will have to upload the following documents in the TISSNET Application Form:

  • Caste Certificate for SC/ST
  • NL-OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate
  • Disability certificates for PWD candidates
  • KM certificate for Kashmir Migrants
  • Armed Force Certificate
  • Income Certificate for SC/ ST/ OBC-NC candidates
  • TISS copy of challan (if paid by cash).
  • SC/ST candidates whose annual family income is less than 2.5 lakh and OBC-NC candidates whose annual family income is less than 1 lakh have to upload the Income certificate issued by Revenue Officer
  • Passport size Photograph and signature should be uploaded with the following specifications:

TISSNET 2019 Application Submission

After successfully filling up the form, the candidates will need to submit the TISSNET Application Form in online mode only. The candidates who have filled the application form offline will be required to send the hard copy of the duly filled Application form to the following address:

Payment of TISSNET Application Fee: 

The Application Fee for a program for General Candidate: Rs. 1030/-.

The Application Fee for a program for SC/ST/OBC-NC: Rs. 260/-.

The Application Fee can be paid by the candidates through two modes:

  • Online Payment – Fee can be paid through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking
  • Offline Payment – Fee can be paid by depositing payment in any SBI branches using the prescribed challan.

TISSNET Admit Card 2019

TISSNET Admit Card will be available online and the candidates can download their TISNET Admit Card 2019 from the link given on this page (whenever it releases). The candidates can visit the official website to download the TISSNET Admit Card by entering their credentials. Those candidates who are not able to obtain their admit card can call on TISS CARE: 022 - 2552 5252 or they can also register their complaint by sending an email to pgadmission@tiss.edu.

TISSNET Admit Card is a very important document to be carried on the day of the TISSNET exam otherwise they will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

TISSNET Results 2019

TISSNET Result will be available online. The candidates who will successfully appear for TISSNET 2019 will be able to check their results by login to the website. There is only online mode available to check the result as the TISSNET Result 2019 will not be sent by the authority to the candidates via post. The minimum cut-off to qualify the exam is 45% for general and 35% for the reserved category candidates. The candidates will be able to check their result by entering their login credentials. After downloading the result it is advised to take the printouts for the further procedures.

TISSNET 2019 – Selection Process

TISS Admission for various courses at its different campuses is done in two stages, and it has three components of assessment and which are given below:

  • TISSNET: The first step is the TISSNET that is the TISS National Entrance exam. The candidates first need to appear in the entrance test. Minimum qualifying marks for the written examination is 45% and 35% (for SC/ST).
  •  Pre-Interview Test (PIT): The second step is the Pre-Interview Test where only the shortlisted candidates who have appeared in TISSNET are called for an interview test.
  • Personal Interview (PI): The candidates who qualify the PIT round are called for a Personal Interview or PI round for the final Selection

About TISS
: Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a “Deemed University” established under Section-3 of the UGC Act 1956. The candidates who have completed their graduation can apply for TISSNET by filling a Common Application Form for all the courses and appear for the entrance test. The selection process is on the basis of qualifying marks secured by the candidates in the TISSNET, and the admission is based on the Merit List.
