About PUTHAT

PUTHAT 2018 is an entrance exam for admission into Hotel Management courses and it was conducted by Panjab University on 6 May 2018. The candidates appeared in Pen and Paper Based PUTHAT (Panjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test) can check PUTHAT Result 2018 now. PUTHAT 2018 is for admission in two courses offered by the University Institute of Hotel and Tourism  Management (UIHTM), Panjab University Chandigarh:

  • Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering (BHMCT).
  • Bachelor of Tourism & Travel Management (BTTM).

Panjab University is a premier institution and one of the oldest and largest universities in India. The University has set up the University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM) from the academic session 2009-2010 to cater to the hospitality sector.

PUTHAT Eligibility criteria

The candidates who are appearing for PUTHAT should have passed 10+2 or relevant qualifying examination recognized by board/university/ council with no less than 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/BC/PwD Categories) in aggregate and with English as one of the compulsory subjects.

Not eligible to appear in PUTHAT

  • The candidates who have appeared in 10+2 examination of Mahila Gram Vidyapith, Allahabad are ineligible to appear for PUTHAT 2018 as this institution has been derecognized by the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
  • The examinations conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Delhi, included in the booklet of recognized exams, have also been deleted from the Booklet.

PUTHAT Application form and Admit Card

PUTHAT Application form was available on the official website of PUTHAT. Eligible candidates could fill the application form from 12 March 2018 to 13 April 2018. STEP 1
: Register Online on PUTHAT Website

STEP 2: Login to fill Application Form

STEP 3: Download the SBI Bank Challan and pay the application fee at any SBI Branch in India.

If the Journal Number is not generated: If 24 hours have passed after depositing the fee in Bank but the journal number hasn't been confirmed, the candidate must write to www.puthat@pu.ac.in with a scanned copy of the Bank Slip. 

STEP 4: Upload the scanned photograph, signature, fill other important information (Details like Name of the Candidate, Parents Name, Reservation and Qualifying Examination Results have to be filled in the application form) and Save and Confirm.

Test Center: Candidate must note that PUTHAT will be conducted in Chandigarh only.     

Submission of Application Form

The PUTHAT application form has to be submitted online only. However, candidates claiming any kind of concession (category or sports reservation) have to send a hard copy of certificate/supporting document attached along with the application form. Once submitted, the candidate shall not no access to the PUTHAT Application form. Addition, deletion, alteration or amendment of any information will not be allowed.  

PUTHAT Admit Card

PUTHAT Admit Card was available for download from 27 April 2018, onwards. Candidates will be admitted to PUTHAT examination hall only on the production of the admit card. The candidates must retain and preserve the admit card for counselling and admission process. Candidates can click on the following link to download the PUTHAT Admit Card 2018. PUTHAT Fees

The candidates who are going to submit PUTHAT application form online, have to pay the application fee as under:

Availing Concession in the Application Fee

To avail concession in the application fee in any category, the candidate must send the copy of a printout of their filled form along with the self-attested copy of Category Certificate/Proforma for claiming 50% concession to P.U. Regular Employees ("B" and "C" Class) duly signed by the Head/Chairperson, to Assistant Registrar, CET Cell, Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh-160014 by registered post/speed post or by hand on or before 23 April 2018 up to 4:00 p.m.

PUTHAT Result and Counselling

PUTHAT Result 2018 has been declared, the candidates can download the result from the official website of Panjab University. There will be no re-evaluation, re-checking, and re-assessment of the answer sheet under any circumstances. The candidate can get a copy of the answer sheet on depositing a sum of Rs. 10,000 within 10 days of the declaration of the result.The office will process the whole procedure within 3 days of receipt of the claim. In case any discrepancy is found in the result then the candidate's result will be revised accordingly and also the fee (Rs. 10000) would be refunded to the candidates.

PUTHAT merit list will come immediately after the declaration of the result. As per the guidelines of the university, a candidate has to secure at least 15% marks as a whole for general and 10% marks for SC/ST in PUTHAT to appear in the merit list.

PUTHAT Answer Keys

The Question paper & the Answer Keys would be declared 4-5 days after the test on the university website. Candidates can file for discrepancies if any within 48 hours of the announcement. The candidate has the right to challenge the answer keys and if the candidate's concern is found to be correct then due consideration would be given to the candidates.

PUTHAT Counselling

The counselling for final allotment of seats will be held in June - July 2018 in two phases. The candidates will have to be physically present at the university to avail the admission.

Admission Fee

The selected candidates have to pay the admission fee on the spot and no extra time would be given to them for making the payment. The fee given below is subject to change and the students should check the website for the latest information.

Candidates, interested to avail hostel facility, are advised to bring with them an extra amount of Rs. 9050 (approximately) for admission in the hostels

PUTHAT Exam pattern

PUTHAT 2018 will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode and the medium of exam will be English. 

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Additional 30 minutes time would be given to visually handicapped/physically handicapped candidates as approved by the chancellor.

Negative Marking: 25% marks will be deducted for each wrong answer given
