About Dhun-A Beat for Skill

Eligibility
  •  Participating candidate should be 18 years and above
  • All participating bands should comprise of semi-professional musicians
  • Band Size: 4 to 8 members
  • Kindly Note: Semi-professional includes students, young professionals and amateurs.
  • Participating bands may have two professionals at most in their group.

  • “Dhun-A Beat for Skill” is PAN India music Band Competition which has been introduced by National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in association with Citizens Alliance.
  • National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and Citizens Alliance have collaborated for a nationwide initiative to catalyze skill development landscape in India and to provide livelihoods to millions
  • ‘Hunar Hai, Toh Kadar Hai’ is a campaign that will be applied in 125 districts across 15 states in India is a focused initiative
  • Main aim behind such an initiative is to enroll the unemployed, employed and semi-skilled people in the vocational training centres so that they can have another means of livelihood.
  • The anthem produced through Dhun: A Beat for Skill would be used for outreach events and activities thereby serving as the voice of this national level project.

Candidates have to Register Online at the official website by filling up form, and an exclusive Dhun Registration Number will be created for them….

Steps involved in the creation of DHUN

  • Step 1: Register Your Band
  • Step 2: Create an Anthem
  • Step 3: Share the Video
  • Step 4: Top 10 Band will perform at Finale in Mumbai
  • Step 5: Win cash prizes and be the VOICE of HUMAR HAI TO KADAR HAI

Rules and regulations for DHUN

  • Duration of original composition entry: 3-5 minutes
  • Chorus: The chorus of all original composition should be in Hindi while the rest of the song could be in either Hindi or English.
  • Theme:  It should capture the issues of unemployment, while also inspiring the want to explore one’s potential, develop new skills, and rise from the dredges of deprivation and focus on self-reliance and sustainability.
  • Key message: Liberation, Self Reliance and Sustainability, Self Esteem, Each individual tapping his/her innate potential.

Step by Step Application Process

  • Candidates have to create an original composition and upload it either on youtube, soundcloud or bandcamp.
  • The recordings need not be of professional quality, but the audio recording must be clear and audible.
  • If uploaded on youtube, the video can be marked as private with viewing rights granted to Dhun- A beat for Skill
  • Candidates have to fill in their band reference number as generated after registration
  • Paste the url of the youtube/bandcamp/soundcloud link.
  • SUBMIT

Kindly Note: Only one entry per band is allowed. Multiple submissions by the same band will not be accepted.

Dhun-A Beat for Skill Selection Procedure

The selection committee will look for superb quality and creativity at the same time to make great things happen.

  • Number of Rounds: The contest has been divided into two rounds:
    • Preliminary elimination 
    • Finale 
  • Screening of online entries by Dhun Listening Committee, announcements of the Finalist will be done on August 20, 2015
  • Finale: The shortlisted finalists will have to perform in front of the judges, in the final event scheduled to be conducted in Mumbai on September 5, 2015.
    • The Results will be declared at the Finale by the panel of judges.
    • All the shortlisted bands must be present for the final day of the event in Mumbai.
    • All participating band members must carry relevant photo ID (PAN card, Aadhar card, Passport or driving licence) if selected for the final event in Mumbai.

Panel of Judges

  • The panel of judges will consist of high profile music industry professionals including celebrity artists and music journalists
  • Judges’ decision in all matters is final and binding.
  • Vulgarity, obscenity and profanity are strictly will not be accepted.

Dhun-A Beat for Skill Reward

  • The Winning band gets to win Rs.1 lakh and a chance to record their song as the project anthem.
  • The first runner’s up gets Rs. 50,000 cash prize
  • The second runner’s up gets Rs. 25,000 cash prize.

The anthem produced through Dhun: A Beat for Skill would be used for outreach events and activities thereby serving as the voice of this national level project.
