Both the JEE Main entrance test will be equated through psychometric methods and standardisation techniques. For admission, the equated JEE Main scores will be considered for admission to the participating institutes. JEE Main 2019 will contain a unique set of questions for a candidate with an Artificial Intelligence software, which will pick random questions for the exam.  The National Testing Agency is going to test approx. 1.5 Crore candidates every year. NTA JEE Main 2019 is expected to be a heterogeneous mixture of advantages and disadvantages. Every year in JEE Main exam, approx. 88% of the candidates appeared for Pen and paper exam.

Changes introduced by National Testing Agency

NTA has introduced several changes in the way exams are conducted in India. The authority has planned to rely heavily on technology. From this year the exams will include:

  • Artificial Intelligence: The AI will set random questions for the candidates
  • Psychometric Analysis: This test will measure a candidate’s suitability
  • Computer Based Adaptive Testing: The exam will be held through computer based mode

The Director General of NTA has said that “The exams will be 100% safe as the highest level of encryption will be used so that no one can hack the system.”

Advantages of NTA JEE Main 2019

There are some advantages which will benefit a candidate while appearing in the exam. Candidates who are willing to appear in JEE Main 2019 will get several advantages. The advantages are:

  • Revisit Questions - Candidates will be able to revisit the questions. If any candidate is not satisfied with his/her attempted answer then he/she can revisit their answer to make corrections.
  • Review Question - Candidates can attempt the easy questions first and then review the remaining ones
  • Exam Dates - Instead of choosing between 2 exam dates, this year, candidates can select the dates among eight different sittings
  • Re-exam – If any candidate is not happy with his/her obtained scores then they can take the exam again in three months i.e. in the month of April

Disadvantages of NTA JEE Main 2019

Despite some advantages, there are some disadvantages of NTA JEE Main which candidates must know. Candidates who are willing to appear in JEE Main, NEET and UGC NET are advised to go through the disadvantages of the exam -

  • AI dependency - The Exam will be fully dependent on Artificial Intelligence due to which the questions will be selected randomly. So the selected questions can be hard or easy as they will be randomly selected through Artificial Intelligence. Thus, the test taker will be completely on the mercy of the software
  • Computer Based Test - Not all candidates have a complete knowledge of computer so it will be a great disadvantage for the person who is willing to appear in the exam because the exam will be computer based
  • Technical Glitches - Since JEE Main will be held only in a computer-based mode, NTA must make sure that there no error must occur during the examination hours. Any kind of technical glitch impacts the performance of candidates and consumes more time unnecessarily.

About JEE Main 2019

As mentioned earlier, JEE Main will be a computer based test for admission to the various NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. The duration of JEE Main 2019 is 3 hours and there will 90 questions based on topics like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Since the test will be held in a computer based mode only, therefore, centres will be provided by NTA to practice the test and get familiar with the test pattern. Also, this year, instead of two slots, the exam will be held in eight different sittings. The exam pattern and syllabus of the test will remain same as that of the previous year.
