About

  • 24th International Children’s Painting Competition is for children aged between 09-14 years.
  • The Painting contest is an initiative by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to spread awareness among the children about the Sustainable Energy and its benefits.
  • Theme: Children willing to participate need to submit a painting on the theme of “We Have The Power” related to Sustainable Energy.
  • The painting should be made by using only watercolours, crayons, coloured pencils, oil paints, ink or charcoal and the children have to submit the scanned copy of the artwork onlineCollages and Mosaics are not allowed.
  • The top 10 entries will be displayed for online public voting and the winner would be decided on the basis of number of votes received.
  • Last date of submission: The panting should be submitted to UNEP on or before May 31, 2015.

  • Age Group: Open for children aged 9 to 14 years (both years inclusive)
  • Painting Style: The painting should be made by using only watercolours, crayons, coloured pencils, oil paints, ink or charcoal.
  • Original work: The artwork must be made specifically for the competition. Entries accepted elsewhere will not be considered.
  • Not Allowed: Art work in the form of Collage or Mosaic is not allowed in the painting competition.

  • Fully Paid Trip: Top 3 winners will get a fully paid trip to the Venue of the Award Ceremony along with one member from the Family/Guardian.
  • Regional Winners: The winner chosen from each of the six regions i.e. Africa, Asia and the Pacific, West Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean and North America will get 1,000 USD.

Note:  

  • The regional winner may also be considered for the three global prizes but a global winner cannot be the regional winner.
  • Information regarding the date and venue of the Ceremony will be made available on the UNEP’s Website as soon as it is finalized.

Application form and Process

Participants need to upload a scanned copy or picture of the painting on UNEP’s website (Submit here). In case the participants are unable to upload the scanned copy of the artwork then they can send it by post on the address given below.

Guidelines for making the Artwork

The specifications of the Artwork and other required information to be sent along with the Artwork are as follow:

  • Specifications of Artwork
    • Painting Size: The painting must be done on an A4 or A3 paper only.
    • Allowed Mediums: Paintings made by using only watercolours, crayons, coloured pencils, oil paints, ink and charcoal are acceptable.
    • Number of entries: A participant can submit maximum 5 paintings.
  • Contact Details:  Participant must mention the following details in English only on the reverse side of the painting, preferably on a sticker:
    • Full name
    • Date of Birth
    • Gender
    • Complete mailing address
    • Phone number and email id.
  • Original Submission: The submitted painting should not have been already submitted to any other photo contest.
  • No logo, brand name or organization should be used or depicted in the artwork.

Important:

  • Disqualification:
    • Any significant difference between the image submitted and the original artwork will lead to the disqualification.
    • Failure to submit the artwork via post or courier within the given time will lead to disqualification.

The entries need to be submitted online on the website and can also be sent to the UNEP regional office to the address mentioned below:

  • The candidates will be asked to submit the original painting to the UNEP regional office in case the painting is selected as a potential winner.
  • Mention on the Envelop: The participants should mention “24th International Children’s Painting Competition” on envelope or container of the painting.

Selection Process

Online Public Voting: Top 10 paintings will be posted online on UNEP’s Website and will be open for public voting. The top 3 winners will be decided on the basis of public voting.
