TERI Green Heroes Film Contest 2017

TERI Green Heroes Film Contest 2017 is mainly organised to gather stories of unsung Green Heroes from India’s western region as it is true that stories have a special place in human society and good stories inspire people a lot. The contest is organised for young filmmakers, photographers, video editors, writers and activists to make films whose work in the field of environment is absolutely captivating. TERI Green Heroes Contest is supported by U.S. Consulate, Mumbai and TERI.  There is no entry fee for TERI workshop.

The TERI Green Heroes Film Contest 2017 has three broad components: 

• Selection of Green Heroes : The Green Heroes finalists will be profiled in short film under the green Heros Storytelling Contest.
• Filmmaking Workshops: TERI will organise two-day long filmmaking training workshops in the five cities namely; Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Indore, Pune and Goa. There are only 30 seats available to the participants for the 2-day workshop in each location. 

• Finale Film Festival : The finale film festival will be conducted in February 2017.

TERI Green Film Heroes Contest 2017 Important Dates

Green Hero Storytelling: The finalists of Green Heroes will be selected by the eminent panel of subjects from TERI. The Green Heros will be profiled in short film under the green Heros Storytelling Contest.

Green Hero Film Making Competition: The reward distribution will be done on post-submission of the application form, the top films from each region will be selected by the jury and screened at a film festival held in Mumbai. Winners will be felicitated with prize money at the festival.

Travel and Lodging allowance: Only outstation participants will receive daily allowance travel, lodging and food for the two days workshop.

• The finalists from each region (other than Mumbai) will also be given travel and accommodation facilities for the finale film festival in Mumbai.

Green Heroes Storytelling Competition

To apply for the Green Heroes Storytelling Contest, the participants need to nominate themselves as a green hero in which the following instructions should be followed:

• The participants need to send the nominations through the email: teri.filmcontest@gmail.com by filling the nominations form. The participants can download the nominations form by clicking on the link given below

• The selection of the nominees will be done by the subject experts of TERI.

Green Heroes Filmmaking Competition

To participate in the filmmaking contest, the participants need to apply for the filmmaking workshop. Workshop elements will include instructions on pre-production technique which include storyboards and scripting, film techniques, and post-production.

• The section given below are eligible to participate in the filmmaking contest
  • Activists,
  • Students of environmental studies
  • Students of Journalism,
  • Students of Mass communication,
  • Photographers,
  • Filmmakers,
  • Writers
• The candidates must submit a brief story idea that relates to Green Heroes in their region. During the workshops, the workshop trainers can modify their original story
• After the workshop, participants have to submit the films on Green Heroes within a specified timeframe and according to contest guidelines.

Short film specifications: Participants will be required to submit a minimum of one film for a “Green Heroes Film Festival', either individually or in groups.

• The submitted films can be produced in any Indian language. However, if the film is made in any other language then the candidates must make sure to add the English subtitles.

   

TERI is organising the contest in two forms i.e Storytelling and Filmmaking. The selection process for Storytelling Contest and Filmmaking Contest is separately given below:

Green Heroes Storytelling Contest

The participants applying in the storytelling contest need to submit the idea on the basis of the themes given below.

• Energy Conservation.
• Natural Resource Management.
• Water Conservation.
• Bio-Diversity Conservation.
• Waste Management.
• Sustainable habitats.
• Green Technologies.

The final selection of the Green Heroes will be done by the experts from TERI. The contest winner will be profiled in the short films produced under the Green Heroes storytelling contest.

Green Heroes Filmmaking Workshop

The applicants participating in Filmmaking workshop need to submit the idea which is relatable to the Green Heroes in their region. 

• The selection of the participants will be done by a Selection Committee of TERI.
• Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills and the sharp understanding of environmental issues in their regions.
• The shortlisted candidates will be informed via email.
• The recommendation of the Selection Committee will be final.
