About Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

The post-matric scholarship scheme was formed to provide equal opportunity to the minority groups in the country.carried out by Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), established to provide financial aid to students who belong to the minority community and are from economically backward families.

Latest Update: Registration for MOMA Post Matric Scholarship has begun. The last date for fresh registration and renewal of scholarship has been August 30, 2016 Extended to September 30, 2016

  • Candidate's Adhar Card Number is Compulsory for the registration to Post- Matric Scholarship. 
  • Post Matric Scholarship is one of the scholarships under MOMA Scholarships.
  • Post Matric scholarship scheme is central Sector scheme with 100% central funding and is implemented by the State Government, UT Administration.
  • The post-matric scholarship scheme had started from the year 2007-08. The ministry will provide financial aid to the students from Class 11 (studying in government or private schools)  up to Ph.D. level.
  • For 2016-17 session the application process will open on June 2016 and will end on September 2016

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Gender Both
Region India
Class/ Age Class 11 & 12, UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma Students
Details
  • The income of parents from all sources must not exceed INR of 2,00,000.
  • The scheme covers those students who have secured at least a 50% marks in the previous examination. 
  • The student must be from the notified minority community in India that is Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis)

Students not eligible for Post Matric MOMA Scholarship

  • Student availing some other scholarship from other sources for the same purpose.
  • Not more than two members of same family is entitled to the scholarship.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Reward

  • The post matric scholarship scheme 2016 will cover the full tuition fee of the course and that would directly be credited to the bank account of the school/college/ university/institution.
  • The maintenance allowance will be given for only 10 months in an academic year and will directly be credited into the student's bank account. 
  • As for the renewals, there is no target for them.

* Hostellers include students who are not staying in hostel of the school/institute concerned but are staying as paying guest or in rented accommodation in towns/cities which are not the places where their parents reside.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Application form and Process

Application Process for Post-matric Scholarship Scheme- MOMA Scholarship 2016

  • The post-matric scholarship scheme has been announced by the state government through daily newspapers and journals.
  • There will be only online application for post matric scholarship scheme and no offline applications would be accepted.Online applications for post matric scholarship scheme was started from the year 2012-13.
  • Candidates will have to compulsorily fill their Aadhar Number while registering for this scholarship.

MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Renewal 2016

  • Post Matric Scholarship Scheme has to be renewed annually. The scholarship will only be renewed given that students secure minimum 50% in the previous examination.
  • The last date for renewal of post matric scholarship is October 2016

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Selection Process

  • The distribution of the scholarship in a state/UT will be made on the basis of the population in state/UT according to Census 2001.
  • The selection will be made strictly on the merit basis.

MOMA Scholarship Reservation 2016

 

  • Reservation for girls: 30% of the scholarship will be made available to girl students, and if in case the required number of eligible girls are not available then the balance scholarships may be distributed to boy candidates. 
  • Preference: Students of BPL families will be given preference, the student with the lowest annual family income will be given importance followed by others.
  • After the scholarships are sanctioned the state/UT will publish the details of the selected students on the website of state/government/UT concerned.
