About OFID Scholarship

OPEC OFID Scholarship Award is sponsored by OPEC provides a Masters scholarship to applicants from developing countries (except OFID member countries) to pursue Master Degree program for the year 2017-2018. Only students who have received an offer letter from the University can apply for this scholarship programme.

The program is established in 2006 and it provides US$1.2 million that enables 21 students from developing countries to pursue higher education. At this time, the OFID scholarship award will be given to 4 applicant’s year-on-year basis.

About OFID Scholarship

The Member States of OPEC collaborated in 1976 to provide financial assistance in the form of aid to the developing countries. To alleviate poverty and boost the economic growth in the downtrodden regions, the OFID Scholarship earmarked US$50,000 from the fund to offer to 4 students.

OFID Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  •  Must be an undergraduate
  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) 3.0 or higher out of 4. The candidate should have Matriculated from an accredited university.
  • There is no minimum requirement of English proficiency to apply for the OFID Scholarship Award.
  • Must be matriculated at an accredited university for the upcoming academic year starting August/September 2017, and must maintain full-time status for the duration of the Master's Degree.

Non-eligible countries-

Algeria, Ecuador, Gabon, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela.

OFID Scholarship Reward

OPEC OFID Scholarship Winner will receive the following awards:

  • The winners of the OFID will receive a scholarship of up to US$50,000.
  • The funds would be spread over a maximum of one year.
  • OFID will also pay for travel costs of winner from the country of origin to the institution in which they are selected.
  • Upon course completion, the candidate will be paid for one way air ticket to his/her home country.

Disbursement of OFID Scholarship

  • The tuition fee along with supplementary examination fee if any will be transferred to the academic institution availed by the student/winner.
  • Health insurance will be paid as per the standard medical scheme of the institution.
  • A monthly Allowance to cover living expenses, books and accommodation, will be transferred to the student’s own personal bank account.

OFID Scholarship Application form and Process

OPEC OFID Scholarship Application Form 2017 can only be filled Online by the interested candidates. The candidates must follow the below-given steps to fill the Application Form:

Step 3: Upload the following documents: CV, Two L-0-R’s (Letter-of-Recommendation), Baccalaureate certificate/ transcript, an acceptance letter to PG program, essay.

OFID Scholarship 2017 Application Form Submission

The duly filled in OPEC OFID Scholarship Application Form must be submitted online along with the following documents:

  • A completed on-line application form.
  • A scanned copy of the applicant's passport.
  • A scanned copy of the last university degree or certificate.
  • A scanned letter of acceptance from chosen educational institution, confirming your admission, subject of study and duration of the Master’s degree program (must not exceed one year)
  • A proof of meeting any prerequisites, including language proficiency.
  • A short essay – of about 500 words in English – giving reasons for applying for the OFID scholarship, explaining your educational goals, and clearly describing how you will use the experience gained from your Master's degree studies to help in the development of your home country.
  • Two letters of recommendation from professors and lecturers at applicant's present university (or present employer).
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

The submission cannot be changed. Once it has been accepted there will be no alteration possible.
