About Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship 2018 is a scheme to support for Minority Students clearing Prelims conducted by Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, State Public Service Commissions etc. The candidates have to apply for Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship 2018 within 30 days from the date of announcement of the result of Preliminary Exam. Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship is given with an objective to not only to provide Minority students but to also adequately equip them to compete for appointment to Civil Services in the Union and the State Government.

  • The objective behind the Scholarship is to increase the representation of the minority in the Civil Services by giving direct financial support to the candidates clearing Preliminary Examination of Group A and B (Gazetted and Non-Gazetted post) of UPSC, SPSC, SSC etc. Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship is given to up to maximum 800 candidates every year.

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Details
  • The candidates should belong to one of the Minority Communities that is Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains.
  • The total annual income of the family of the candidates from all sources should not exceed Rs.4.5 Lakh per annum.
  • The financial support can be availed by a candidate only once.
  • Only the candidates whose result has been declared after 1 March 2018 are eligible for financial assistance during 2018-19

Non-eligibility

  • The candidate getting benefit from any other similar scheme of the Central or State Governments/UT Administrations are not eligible for Nai Udaan Minority scholarship.
  • In case the candidates decide to opt for other schemes then he or she will have to forgo the claim from this Ministry and refund the amount if already availed with 10% interest. He/ she needs to give an affidavit to the effect that he/she is not availing such benefit from any other source.

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship Reward

Amount of Financial Assistance that will be given to those candidates who have cleared the Prelims conducted by UPSC, SSC, SPSC etc are as follows:

The Selected candidates will get 100% financial support 
through a Nationalized Bank as this is a Central Sector Scheme (CSS). The payment will be made through RTGS/ECS/ Cheque/e-payment.

Nai Udaan Minority Scheme is given to 800 candidates throughout the country on merit basis and those who fulfil the eligibility criteria. The physical distribution of benefits to different notified minority communities are as follows:

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship Application form and Process

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship Application form can only be filled Online by the candidates. No Offline Applications or any other modes will be accepted. If any candidate has already applied offline, he/she has to again apply online. 

Nai Udaan Minority Scheme Application process

Registration: The candidates must register themselves first, and they must keep their registration number, email ID active till the entire process.

Details: The Candidates must fill the online application form very correctly will all the personal and academic details.

Upload Photograph and Signature: The candidates must upload their scanned copies of photograph and signature in the online application form.

Upload documents: The candidates must upload the scanned copies of the documents given below:

  • Candidate’s Self-Declaration of belonging to Minority Community or Minority community certificates that are Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi as per the FORMAT –I, given in the official website
  • Candidate’s Self-Declaration of Annual income of family members from all sources does not exceed 4.5 Lakh as per FORMAT-II in the official website.
  • Candidate’s Scanned copies of identity proof such as Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Ration Card, BPL Card.
  • Scanned Copies of Cancelled Cheque of Bank Account of the student to verify the Account number and Bank IFSC code.
  • Scanned Copy of an Affidavit on Non-Judicial Paper of Rs. 5 duly notarized to the effect that he/she is not availing/not availed financial assistance from any other source.
  • Scanned copy of the Admit card of the particular examination
  • Scanned copies of the Roll number slip with a copy of result page in which the Roll No. is reflected. 

Save and submit: After the successful uploading of all the above-mentioned documents the candidates need to click on save button and automatically a message will be generated for the successful registration, and a registration number and password will be sent to the email id given by the candidate. Then the candidate must click on Submit button for the successful application process.

The candidates need to click on the following check boxes (as applicable) that will appear in the Online Application form:

  • I agree that I have not availed the benefit of this scheme in the past for clearing UPSC/SSC/State PSC and any other exam.
  • I Declare that my annual family income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 4.50 Lakh
  • I belong to one of the Minority Communities notified under Section 2 (C) of National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
  • If found any wrong declaration by me, the financial assistance awarded to me may be recovered with penal interest and legal action by law may be initiated. I authorise Ministry of Minority Communities notified under Section 2 (C) of National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

Submission of the Application Form

While filling the application form, the candidates should make sure that the details filled by them are correct in all aspect otherwise, the application may get rejected.

The candidates need to submit any hard copy of Nai Udaan Minority Application form along with the documents to the concerned authority. However, candidates are advised to take a printout of the application form for future use.

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship Selection Process

The Selection of the Minority candidates who have cleared the Prelims conducted by UPSC, SSC and SPSC will be done on the merit basis is the case of the limited number of slots available for any particular community.

The candidates who will be selected for the grants-in-aid under the scheme will be evaluated by the following committee:

  • Joint Secretary (Minority Affairs)- Chairperson
  • Deputy Secretary (DS)/Director (Finance)- Member
  • Representative form DoPT not below the rank of Director/DS- Member
  • Representative from Ministry of HRD not below the rank of Director/DS- Member
  • Representative form UGC not below the rank of Director/DS- Member
  • Deputy Secretary/Director (SS)- Convener

A monitoring and evaluation mechanism will be put in place so that the selected students do not suffer due to the delay of financial assistance.

Nai Udaan Minority Scholarship - Free Coaching to Minority Students

The financial assistance would be provided to the following number of minority students given in the table below. Under the said scheme stipend of Rs.1,500 per month and Rs. 3,000 per month is provided to the local and outstation students respectively.
