About Kalakaar Photography Contest

  • Kalakaar is an annual international photography contest conducted by Vibha. 
  • This year's contest is brought to you by Mubi. Mubi is the title sponsor of Kalakaar 2015
  • The contest is to bring out the artistic energy in everyone (kids and adults alike) and use their passion for photography to spread awareness about Vibha in their cause of supporting and improving lives of underprivileged children in India and the US.

  • Kalakaar International Photography Contest was started in 2009 and last year the contest received 1500 entries from 50 countries.

  • 16 years and below.
  • 17 years and above.
    If participant's age is 16 years or under, a parent/guardian will need to give consent for the participation in HDRsoft Kalakaar-2015 photography contest.

Kalakaar Photography Contest Application form and Process

Kalakaar Photography Contest 2015 Application Process

  • Participation is free.
  • Only one entry is allowed per person.
  • Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs.
  • Photos will be credited to the photographer named in entry form.
  • The contest is open from March 15, 2015 to April 15, 2015

Registration Process

  • Step 1:Enter your full name. Your name will appear on the certificate exactly as filled out.

  • Step 2: Provide email address and password. This will be your user login and password to access your certificates on Certlog.

  • Step 3: Upload entry photograph, select the theme and submit  with a caption.

  • Step 4: Confirmation on e-mail Please do not forget to confirm your participation. You will receive a verification link at this email address to confirm your participation within 15 minutes of registration.

Important Things to Note

  • If participant's age is 16 years or under, a parent/guardian will need to give consent for the participation in HDRsoft Kalakaar-2015 photography contest.
  • Size of the Image: All digital photographs should be 5 megabytes or smaller,  in JPEG, JPG, PNG or GIF format, and  1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).

  • Caption for your submission must be complete and accurate, sufficient to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken.

  • Restrictions: Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable.

  • Copyrighted Photos: Photographs that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art will be accepted as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close-up of another person's art.

  • Image Manipulations Rules: Minor digital enhancement is permitted, modified images that appear unnatural will be disqualified. No borders/frames may be added to images. No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images. Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted. Artistic filters are not permitted. Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the size and format is to specification. Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained.

  • Allowed Red-eye removal and spot editing:

    • One-step enhancement (such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix", "Auto Levels", etc.) Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise.

    • Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint.

Kalakaar Photography Contest Selection Process

  • Judging panel will consist of more than 25 photographers with excellent photography skills and diverse backgrounds. The entries in each age category for each theme will be judged separately, in accordance with the judging criteria, as defined below.
  • All entries must be submitted and received by April 15, 2015.
  • Winners will be announced in mid-May, and notified by email.
  • Decisions of the judges are final and binding

 Round One:

  • Each judge in a panel of photographic experts will select ten (10) entries in each Category from among all eligible entries based on the "Judging criteria"
  • The entries selected in Round One will proceed to Round Two.

 Round Two

  • The Judges will select a First Place.
  •  Winner in each Category will be based on the "Judging Criteria"

Round Three,

  • The Judges will select a Grand Prize Winner from among the First Place Winners based on the "Judging Criteria"
  • In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges to re-judge between the tied entries alone
  • In the event that a tie remains after re-judging, the entry with the highest score in the creativity criteria will be declared the winner.
