About India Skills Competition 2017

India Skills Competition 2017 is an initiative of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The last date for India Skills Competition 2017 is 29 June 2017, and the winners will get a chance to participate in WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

This initiative was started in the year 2011 to promote India's participation in the World Skill International Competitions. WorldSkills International is the largest skill competition in the world, with more than 1000 contestants below the age of 23 years who compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, in over 46 skills. The last date for Registration is 19 June 2016.

India Skills Competition 2017 WSI in Abu Dhabi


The winner of World Skills India (WSI) 2017 competition will represent India at the World Skills International competition in Abu Dhabi in October 2017. The last edition of the competition was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2015. NSDC led delegation of 29 candidates participated in the competition and India won 8 medallions of excellence at the Internation competition.

Age Criteria

  • Mechatronics, Engineering Team Challenge, and Aeronautical Engineering participant must be above 24 years of age i.e born on or after January 1, 1992.
  • Other Participant must be above 21 years of age or must be born after January 1, 1995. 

India Skills Competition 2017 Reward

India Skills Competition 2017 is based on the format of WorldSkills 2017. Winners of India Skills Competition will be felicitated during Skill India week in the month of July 2017, i.e. World Youth Skills Day and will also qualify for the selections in WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

Fill in the registration form with personal details, Candidate must enter his/her contact details carefully as they will be used by the Skill India Team for future contact.

Participant has to upload a copy of their Identity card which can be Aadhar Card/Pan Card/Ration Card/ Passport/ Voter id/ Birth Certificate.

Submission of Skill India 2017 Application Form


The candidates have to fill the online application form and Upload the right ID Proof and click on the submit button. Once the Application form is submitted Skill India Team will contact the participant via contact details provided in the application form.

India Skills Competition 2017 Selection Process

NSDC follows a transparent sequential selection process.

  • After the screening of participants, they will be moving for regional competitions. Two winners from every region will be selected and will participate in India Skill Competition.  
  • The winners of the India Skills Competition will qualify for the Pre-National Competitions.
  •  After the Pre-National competitions, the candidates will undergo training for 5-6 months before they compete at the final competition.
  • The winner will represent India at the WorldSkills International (WSI) competition in Abu Dhabi, UAE in October 2017.

About WorldSkills International Competition

WorldSkills International is the largest skill competition in the world. The competition is organised once every two years in one of the member countries. More than 1000 contestants below the age of 23, compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, in over 46 skills.

Last year at the WorldSkills competition was conducted in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  

  • NSDC led a delegation of 29 candidates who participated in 27 skills. 
  • last year India won 8 medallions of excellence at WorldSkills competition.
