About CGWB Essay Writing Competition

3rd National Essay Competition on Water Conservation 2017-18 is conducted by the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. The essay competition will be held among the youth in the age group up to 18 years across the country. CGWB Essay Competition on Water Conservation aims to make the youth aware of the need for conservation and prevention of pollution of this precious natural resource and at the same time involve their parents and society in this noble cause.

The essay can be written in Hindi, English or any regional language. The candidates participating in the competition should know that the Aadhaar/ Aadhaar enrolment is mandatory for the competition. The theme of the competition for the Phase I is - "Swachh Jal -- Swachh Bharat."

CGWB Essay Writing Competition Eligibility Criteria

  • The participants must be an Indian Citizen
  • Employees of Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR and all its organisations will not be eligible to participate in the competition.
  • The participants must have Aadhaar Card/ enrollment in order to submit the entries.

CGWB Essay Writing Competition Reward

The jury would select 60 best essays from the total number of essays received from each State/ UT and these would be considered for the prizes. The distributions of the prizes for CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition is given below:

For disbursement of the prize money

All the selected authors will submit their proof of identity like the certificate for Class 10. The participants would provide a photocopy of passbook having details of their bank account along with one cancelled cheque for e-transfer of prize money.

CGWB Essay Writing Competition Application form and Process

CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition on Water Conservation 2017-18 will be for the applicants with age group of up to 18 years. The candidates who are interested to take part in CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition have to send one essay in either Hindi or English or Local/ Regional Language through e-mail/ post to the Nodal Officers for Phase 1 of the competition.
  • The theme of the essay competition for the Phase 1 is - "Swachh Jal -- Swachh Bharat."

Submission of the Entry of Competition

 
The Essay can be submitted either by post or email to the nodal officer. The essay is to be submitted to the respective State of his/her present stay to the respective Nodal Officer only.
  • Details of the participant including candidate name, date of birth, father’s/mother’s name, profession (student, working etc.), name/ address of educational institution/ workplace, communication address, telephone/ mobile number(s), E-mail ID etc., are to be furnished along with the essay.
  • Thos who get selected in Phase 1 will have to submit the Technical papers to the Nodal Officer through email only.
  • All the eligible authors have to send one essay in either Hindi and English languages only to the Central Ground Water Authority through e-mail only cgwa@nic.in

Documents to be submitted with the Entry

  • Scanned Copy of Proof of Identity- Class 10 Certificate/ Aadhar Card/ Driving License/ Voter id Card/ some other authentic document for proof of identity.
  • The id card should be clearly visible and unclear id proofs may lead to rejection of the entry.
  • Scanned copy of Colored Passport Size photograph
Format of the technical paper to be submitted online
  • Applicant must use MS-Word for typing the Paper on A4 size paper. Use Microsoft (*.doc/docs). Margins - Left, top, bottom and right – 25 mm, Gutter – 0 mm
  • Spacing - Single line spacing, Font Type - Times New Roman
  • Font Size- 14 for the Title (Bold, All caps), 12 for the Author’s Name(s) (Bold, First letter cap), Designation & affiliation, the caption of Figures & Tables and 11 for Abstract heading (Bold, All caps) Abstract text , text & headings, Main headings: Bold, All caps Subheadings: Bold, First letter cap, Lower level headings: Italics, First letter cap and Reference heading & Reference text.
  • Rules for Title Page- Title: All Caps, bold and centred,  Author: Leave one line blank between the title of the paper & Author’s name(s). Leave two lines blank between the author(s) affiliation(s) & abstract. Affiliation should consist of the designation & name of the organisation, mobile No. & email address (centred). Abstract: Heading Centered & bold, all caps. Text justified. The abstract should be < 300 words. After abstract leave one line blank.
  • Headings- Left justified bold. Leave one line blank before & after heading. Each paragraph should be separated by one blank line. All text should be justified typed in a single column on one side of paper.
  • Maximum length: 8 pages including figures & tables.

CGWB Essay Writing Competition Selection Process

The last date to submit the entry for the CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition is 31 December 2017. The candidates will be selected by the jury who will evaluate the essays received. The jury will select ten best essays out of all the essays received in the respective State/ UT and after that, the further selection round will be done.

CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition 2018 - Selection Process

  • The jury will evaluate the ten best essays among all the entries submitted by the applicants for CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition in Phase 1
  • The participants of these best ten essays would be called in person for competing in Phase 2 of the Essay Competition, which will be held in each Regional offices and/ or State Unit offices.
  • Out of ten authors appearing for Phase  2 essay writing Competition, a panel of Jury will select best 3 authors from each State/UT. These winners will then compete for the national level prizes.
  • At last, the panel of jury will evaluate the technical papers. There will be a selection of first five and second five in the winner's category. It is to be noted that the Prize winners will be communicated through e-mail.

Important Points about the CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition

  • The Essay Competition will be conducted in English, Hindi and Regional languages.The Paper and pen for the writing of the Essay Competition will be provided by the Nodal Officer.
  • Topic/ theme for the Phase- II essay writing will be decided by a committee constituted by the competent authority. Topic/ Theme for the Essay Competition will be disclosed at the venue. However, it would be related to issues pertaining to water.
  • All the 10 participants should submit a latest coloured passport size photo to the respective Nodal Officer.
  • All the selected ten authors will bring their proof of age like the certificate for class 10, Aaadhar Card, Driving license, Voter ID Card or some other such authentic document.

CGWB 3rd National Essay Competition - Stipend to the Candidates

  • Travel Expenses: All participants for phase 2 competition would be paid to and fro rail fare by sleeper class /Bus on the production of proof of journey undertaken in the entitled class within the respective State only.
  • Lodging & Food: Arrangements for stay (food and lodging) will be made by the participants themselves. A lump sum amount of Rs. 1000 would be paid to each participant appearing for the Phase 2 contest towards food, lodging, local transport and incidental charges.
