About CBSE Heritage Quiz

CBSE Heritage India Quiz is based on the diverse Indian cultural heritage. The Indian heritage quiz aims at raising awareness among students about conservation and management of India's heritage. The CBSE Heritage Quiz was introduced by CBSE in 2001 in order to instigate the developing minds with the rich socio-cultural heritage of India.

The last date for application is extended to 10 November 2017

This year also 25% of questions would be also be asked on cultural practices and heritage of the seven sister states of north-east India.

Heritage Quiz 2017 Dates

 

 The CBSE Heritage India Quiz-2017 is divided into 3 phases.

Phase 1 - City Chapter  2nd week of November to Mid December 2017
Phase 2 - Regional Chapter Mid December 2017 to 2nd week of January 2018
Phase 3 - National Semi-Finals and Finals Last week of January 2018

  • In the initial phase i.e. city chapter only 3 students can participate from each school.
  • Interested schools have to select and sponsor three students who will be registered as a team, to compete in the City Chapter.

CBSE Heritage Quiz Reward

Participation Certificate will be awarded to all the participants of semi-finals and finals while the winners will receive attractive cash prizes and trophies.

  • First Prize - Rs 21,000 x 1 team = Rs 21,000
  • Second Prize - Rs 12,000 x 1 team = Rs 12,000   
  • Third Prize - Rs 7,500 x 1 team = Rs 7,500
  • Fourth Prize - Rs 4,500 x 1 team = Rs 4,500
  • Second Position (Semi-final) - Rs 3,000 x 4 teams = Rs 12,000
  • Third Position (Semi-final) - Rs 1,500 x 4 teams = Rs 6,000
  • Fourth Position (Semi-final) - Rs 1,000 x 4 teams = Rs 4,000

CBSE Heritage Quiz Application form and Process

Online registration: Schools can get themselves registered by filling the registration form.

Online Registration form for CBSE Heritage Quiz 2017 is to be filled by the school by selecting the region in which their school falls and entering their affiliation number and school number before 31 October 2017.

Registration fees: Schools have to make a payment Rs. 600 through NEFT transfer in the account of the board.The NEFT Transfer is to be made using the following given details.

The online registration will be considered complete only after receiving the registration fees through the NEFT transfer.

CBSE Heritage Quiz Selection Process

The CBSE Heritage India Quiz-2017 is divided into 3 phases:

Phase 1: City Chapter – Registration: 

  • Interested schools can register till 31 October 2017, as the quiz competition will be conducted in between November and December 2017.
  • Schools have to form a team of 3 students from class 9 to 12.
  • On the basis of geographical diversity and individual region response, city chapter competition will be divided into 1, 2, 3 or 6 city chapters.
  • The quiz will be a single day event divided into 2 stages, it will be held in minimum 1 and maximum 6 locations.
  • Stage I Round: Written Elimination
    • This round will be a power point based written quiz comprising of 30 questions to be answered in 25 minutes.
    • Teams from each school can answer to every question and side by side they will come to know the right answer.
    • Teams will be shortlisted for the round 2 on the basis of their performance in round 1.
  • Stage II Round: On –Stage
    • This round will be of 60-75 minutes duration in which a mix of verbal, audio and visual questions will be asked.
    • The 6 winner teams of stage 2 will go directly to regional chapter. 

Phase 2: Regional Chapter

  • The regional chapter will be held in Mid December 2017 to 2nd week of January 2018.
  • In the regional chapter, 6 winner teams of a region will be placed in one group to represent their region.
  • The quiz will be held in the form of questions comprising of verbal, audio and visual items.
  • The top 2 teams from each region will qualify for the national semi-final round.

Phase 3: National Semi-Finals and Finals

  • This round will be held in the Last week of January 2018.
  • In national semi-finals round, there will be 2 teams from each region and a total of 20 teams from all the competing regions.
  • These 20 teams will be divided into 5 groups, each group containing 4 teams.
  • On the basis of the group performance in national semi-finals round, the winner from each group will go for the final round.

The quiz would include 25% questions on the tangible and intangible, folk and tribal heritages (cultural practices and endangered languages) of the North Eastern states of India.

Important points for the schools

  • All the rounds of the quiz competition will be held in different school premises.
  • In advance, schools will be informed about the schedule for the city and regional chapters.
  • Schools have to make their own arrangements for their travel, lodging, and boarding to reach the venue for the city and regional chapters.
  • 1 teacher along with the winning team of national semi-finals round will get second class rail fare to go to the national finals round.
  • To minimise the risk of confusion, schools should the following arrangements
  • videography of the rounds
  • proper installation of audio/video system
  • independent observers for different rounds of the quiz
  • different schools audience

Selection Process for CBSE Heritage Quiz 2018

3 students together will form a team and a team will be selected on the basis of their performance in different rounds.

  • In phase 1 - city chapter: there will be 2 rounds and 6 teams will be selected from each region.
  • In phase 2 – regional chapter: among the 6 winner teams, 2 teams from each region will be selected to go for national semi-finals round.
  • In phase 3 – national semi-finals and finals: a total of 20 teams will compete in a group of 5 and the winners from each group will go for the national final round.

CBSE Heritage Quiz Regional Round Details

This is the list of the venue and the dates for the City Chapter and regional final round. It consists of the name of the school where the regional round would be conducted along with the contact details.

The participating schools are requested to bring the participating students with a photo identity on a school letterhead to the ‘Venue’ by 8:30 A.M on a respective day for the City Round.

These rounds will be held from Mid December 2017 to 2nd week of January 2018 as per the details that are given in this list.
