The Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2015 has ranked Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bangalore) on number 25 in the university ranking amongst the BRICS nation. Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bangalore), is one among the top ranked Universities in India.
The ranking system covers 18 countries and 40 universities in which Indian Institute of Science, (IISc Bangalore) is on number 25, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) is on number 37, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is on number 38 and Punjab University is on number 39.
The leading two positions are held by China’s Peking University and Tsinghua University respectively. Next best ranked country on the ranked list for 2015 is Taiwan.
Phil Baty, Editor, Times Higher Education Rankings, said, “India is starting to show its potential in these rankings... But this improved showing is partly due to the fact that more Indian institutions have recognized the benefits of being part of the rankings process and more are sharing their data with Times Higher Education.”
He added that some of the Indian varsities have slid down the ranking board this year as compared to that of the previous year. The table below shows the comparison in a clear format:
