IIT Kharagpur's strategies to attract Foreign Students - Key Highlights!
As mentioned above, IIT is promoting the internationalisation of IITs with the objective of attracting the foreign students to study law in India in Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL), IIT Kharagpur. There are two main strategies by the IIT Kharagpur to attract the foreign students for their Law programme. The two of the strategies are mentioned below.
Organising the Spring Semester System
- The dean of the RGSOIPL has announced that they are organising a spring semester programme with George Washington University Law School which covered the way for the exposure to the Indian students.
- With specialisation in Intellectual Property Law, the RGSOIPL has also developed to other areas of legal education such as Corporate Laws, Criminal Laws, International Law, Constitutional Law, Taxation and Competition Law.
Providing Supercomputing facility
- Another way of attracting the foreign students to pursue law in IIT Kharagpur is to provide them supercomputing facility to provide a large computational support to carry out research and teaching activities.
- Therefore, IIT Kharagpur under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), has been provided with a supercomputing facility and has become the first academic institution to get the same.

"Against old time practice of Indian legal scholars making trips abroad to become law practitioners and professionals, we are promoting India-bound student traffic.'' RGSOIPL is the only law school in the IIT system, which has established collaborative and exchange programmes with the internationally reputed George Washington University Law School." said Prof Khushal Vibhute, Dean, RGSOIPL.
